Show Notes

Alexis Cook and Bree Rawls from 'The Syryns' join the guys for this week's episode. This was a fun one that got a little rowdy at points so viewer discretion is most definitely advised. Find out how these ladies met, their backstories on getting into music, and what they've got planned for the future. We also learn that Matt is a closet fan of pop acts like Billie Eilish and Finneas and play a very interesting explicit game of 'Personally Incorrect'. All that and more on this week's episode of In The Round!

Speaker 1 00:00:13 What is up everybody? How we doing? Welcome back to this week's edition of the In the Round podcast. You got Matt and Tyler and we are hanging out. We're recording at night and it's Hump day. It's Wednesday and um, a lot of time been out on the road Tyler. And, uh, we were able to squeeze a recording in this weekend. It is going to be a fun one. I'm excited because we have two of our, some of our best friends that we have in town, the, we don't even get to see a lot anymore cause everybody's so freaking busy and these two are crushing it, making music and writing and getting in the, the artsy vibe and doing all kinds of cool things. Also working and, and just doing what they gotta do here in town. And, um, we love them. Huge fans. We have got Ms. Alexis Cook and we've got Miss Bree Rawls and um, they are known as the Sirens and they played one of our writers rounds recently. Girls, how we doing? Hi. I'm doing great. I I, it's cool to be back in town. I was home for a week and it's like when you go home for a little bit, it's, it's, it's like you realize why you moved to Nashville. Like it was good to be home for a little bit, but then it's like, now you come whole Speaker 2 00:01:18 <laugh>. I hate leaving Nashville. Like if I'm like, okay. So like, I like it for like a second. Yeah. And then I'm like, need to go back. Like I get kind of like, I get so sick from Nashville. Yeah. Speaker 1 00:01:29 Yeah. When was, when was the last, when, when was last? Speaker 2 00:01:32 Well actually we went to New Orleans, um, for Voodoo Fest. And it was like fun. That had to be fun. Oh, it was so fun. It was really fun. And like we saw Post Malone. Oh my gosh. He was amazing. But, um, yeah, we were just like, oh my God, I can't wait to get home. I can't wait to get home. But then like, it was fun. I don't know. So how Speaker 1 00:01:49 Long has Nashville been home for you two? Speaker 2 00:01:52 I've lived here for three years now. Okay. And I'm two, Speaker 1 00:01:56 Two years. All right. Sweet. So you guys are right around. So I'm like a year in like two months. So I'm still pretty green to this. And Tyler, Tyler, Speaker 3 00:02:04 Six and a half years Speaker 1 00:02:04 Now, grandpa, he's been here and seen the whole fucking change over here. PPA Tyler over there. Papa Bore over there. Speaker 3 00:02:12 You've seen the city change a lot. I remember when downtown used to literally close for three months. Like no bar would be open downtown for three months. Speaker 1 00:02:21 They would just, they would just finish like dead season would That's, which is just crazy. Speaker 3 00:02:26 Literally like right after like, interesting Speaker 1 00:02:29 As mics are falling over and stuff here. Yeah. We're a little, little rusty with that. There we go. Oh, I got fixed. There we go. Oh, there we go. Oh, whoa. She's moving Amber. I'm gonna, I'm gonna have to hold her and treat her. Right. That's <laugh>. That's what I have to do. <laugh>. So you guys were talking about Voodoo Fest and stuff like that with going to see Post Malone. What's really cool about having you two here is we usually have a lot of country people on. Like, that's from having leave. You're in Nashville, it's the country home. Y'all have a very different kind of vibe and it's like a very poppy vibe. And growing up, I didn't listen to a lot of pop music. I was always like, eh, I wanna listen to like classic rock and this and that and, and all that shit and be different. Speaker 1 00:03:05 You ever ride in the car with Matt? It's literally aggression to a hundred. It's a lot of like five finger death punch, lamb of God. Okay. Lot of C there. Like a lot of that disturbed. But lately I've been listening to a lot of pop music, like a lot. I got him into Billie Eilish. He got me really into Billie Eilish now. Ok. Lizzo? No, not as much Lizzo. <laugh> Billy know, but Billie Eilish and Finn is cuz like I've hanging out with songwriters a lot. I've gotten like really open to like listening to the lyrics. Listening to the melodies, like figuring out, I try to figure out what songs are about. You actually learn what music was. Yeah. Which it's tough to figure out what like songs are about and stuff, like the creativity side of it. But you guys are all like that style where it's like the real deep, like heavy. There's songs that I'm sure like, it's kind of tough to figure out because you're writing from like a real, like vulnerable, like real creative headspace kind of place. So for you guys, what's, what's the writing process like as pop writers? Like that like vibe where it's like Poppy alternative. Speaker 2 00:04:03 Our methods are, Speaker 4 00:04:05 There is no one's so random, different. There's no one way <laugh>. Speaker 2 00:04:08 It's almost like, um, when it like strikes, it's like it strikes good. Yeah. And you'll get like three songs. Like last night, last Speaker 4 00:04:16 Night, literally we were just talking and all of a sudden writing a song. Speaker 2 00:04:20 I just like, I'll just be either at the piano and I'm playing and then I'll just come melody and then I just start singing. She goes, well so she'll do this thing cuz she'll record me on memos and like if I know I'm being recorded, I'm probably gonna like mess it up. Yeah. So she'll like, she'll literally act the part like she's texting or like not actually even listening Speaker 4 00:04:41 And I'm just holding the recorder. Yeah. Cause I know if I tell her I'm recording, she'll mess up. So I act like I'm not even listening. Speaker 2 00:04:46 Yeah. And I'll look back at her, I'm like, did you get that? And she'll go, Hmm. I don't know. I'm like, oh, you so did, thank God. Speaker 1 00:04:54 So that trick me. You guys, do you guys tend to write more at night? Is that more your guys kind of vibe, like late night kind of thing? Or does it pop or is it whenever, Speaker 4 00:05:01 Whenever Speaker 2 00:05:01 It's really so random. Like if you get inspired by something, like say we watched like, I don't even know, or something we Speaker 4 00:05:09 Watched, well we watched um, that Rocket Man movie and then Gypsy came. Oh Speaker 2 00:05:12 Yeah. After that. What so Gypsy? Um, that like how was that movie that catchy on that you went into a seizure when we were playing it? Speaker 1 00:05:21 Yeah. <laugh> that was, you remember that? Yeah. Like I times, yeah. We've had a lot of late nights where we, where we've gotten our party on in various different ways. And I do remember when you played that you weren't Speaker 2 00:05:32 Even partying that hard. You were just like chilling and like we were playing that and all of a sudden you start, I swear to God you were seasoned. And I just was like, I look at Brad, I we were both nervous and then you were fine. It Speaker 1 00:05:43 Was on that couch right there. Yeah. Yes. It was literally in this room. Room. And then we were fine. Speaker 2 00:05:46 That Speaker 1 00:05:46 Was in this room. And that was right around the time when you guys first wrote that because Was that the one that Yeah. Was that the one that was like late at night and you like the real mm-hmm. <affirmative> were you guys were like both super tired and you don't realize what's coming out of you at the moment kind of thing. Oh no, that was echo. That was echo. See there's just so many different, so let's, so let's stay on Gypsy for a second cuz that song is freaking awesome and it's, it's, it's got like different levels to it where like, it starts out one way and then the progression goes and then it comes back and it really tells that kind of story. How'd you guys write that one? So you were watching the movie and then Gypsy came outta that kind of Speaker 2 00:06:18 Thing. So we were watching the movie and had a blanket for it. Okay. And then like an epic Speaker 4 00:06:22 Blanket for it. Oh yeah. It was awesome. Speaker 1 00:06:24 The only way, only way to do blanket forts. You gotta be epic. It was, Speaker 2 00:06:26 It was good. Yeah. And it wasn't just like inspired I think by that. Cuz we also watched like Bohemian Rhapsody like a couple days before that. Speaker 4 00:06:32 It was like, yeah, we were like in that whole, Speaker 2 00:06:34 And he likes to, so Freddie Mercury loves to like, I dunno, it's a story and like it's art and like he'll be singing like at one tempo and then to like a completely different one. Yeah. Like he's all over the place. And that, that was kind of what Gypsy was like inspired by cuz like it's, it sounds so different in different parts. It's like, Speaker 4 00:06:59 And then you wrote the riff and everything. Right? Speaker 2 00:07:01 That riff was was really old actually. Yeah. So like the, the main riff. Yeah. I had that started in like February and I could not find anything to go with it at all. Like I was just stuck on that riff like, and I showed so many people that riff and like one day she was like, I don't even know where you were. Speaker 4 00:07:24 I'm in a blanket for it. I'm still in the blanket for it. I didn't take it down. Speaker 2 00:07:28 Yeah. And I wrote that there and then she Speaker 4 00:07:30 Sent me a little piece of it. I Speaker 2 00:07:34 Feel like they just kind of come to my brain and like, I didn't, it almost feels like I didn't come up with it. Speaker 1 00:07:39 Well it's kind of like how you are with the record with with recording 'em on the voice memo. Uhhuh <affirmative>. Like if she sits down and try, if you sit down and try to write, and you're probably like this too. Like you, you probably get in your own head and you like develop like a writer's block and there's like this pressure, but then if it just pops to you and it feels more natural, like Speaker 4 00:07:55 Lately when I've been writing it's like I'll just bored cause I'm like feeling something I'll, yeah, we'll just see what happens. And it's happened twice. The past two songs that I've written that I've sent to her have been like, I sat down and improv the whole thing start to finish and it was done. That was it. It just like poured out of me. I'm like, I don't even know where these just came from. Speaker 2 00:08:11 Yeah. She finishes hers. Like she'll have like a full, like it'll be all done and then I'll be like, oh, I came up with one. And it's like, it's like puzzle pieces. It's puzzle Mine are mine come in puzzle pieces. Okay. And like, they'll be like, well let's finish it. And I'll just be like, no puzzles aren't here yet. But then they come. I just, you have to like, you Speaker 4 00:08:30 Have to like sit and like Speaker 2 00:08:31 With mine, they sit and they have to cook. Speaker 1 00:08:34 That's interesting how you guys have different processes things, Speaker 4 00:08:38 Honey. Oh Speaker 1 00:08:40 No. Oh, you gotta love name puns. Right. They're the best. So how did you two meet? Because I know, I know this story, but I want our, I want our listeners to hear this story as well. Wanna sell it Honey, this story <laugh>. Speaker 4 00:08:52 Well, well we met, it was like through mutual friends, they worked together. But the night that we actually first talked, everyone was out and drinking and uh, we were a little piece of place and like showed her some lyrics. We were just kinda sitting at this table. Speaker 2 00:09:16 Yeah. Not to sound like we were both like super sad too, which just felt like we were both, it was funny cuz we were out and we were like acting like we were having a great time and we both were like so faking it. And we're sitting there at this table at, what is that pizza place? Speaker 1 00:09:29 Little Chicago? Yeah, little Speaker 2 00:09:31 Chicago. Speaker 1 00:09:32 Love that. We've been, we've been, we've we've, we've been, we've been there many a times. It a good spot. Speaker 2 00:09:37 I think it kind of birthed the sirens if really Speaker 1 00:09:40 It what, what kind, what kind of night was that? Was that like a night where you guys were out at like a whiskey gym or something like that? Or were you guys just kinda hanging? Speaker 2 00:09:47 I had just gotten off work. Okay. She was waiting on us all to get off work, I think. And then like, I don't even know we were out for even that long. I think we for longer than we were out. I don't know. Anyways, it Speaker 1 00:10:01 Doesn't, I thought we were out for a while. All, all the night blend together Speaker 4 00:10:04 This time. They do. Speaker 2 00:10:05 They really do. Yeah, they really do. But um, yeah, no, we were sitting there and like, we were both like fake smiling and then she was like, I'm I'm a songwriter. And I was like, me too. And she showed me it and I was like, oh, she, she's got, she's got the blues. Recognized it because I had it too. Uh, and then Speaker 4 00:10:25 Wait, wait, we got through. Speaker 2 00:10:26 We did. Yeah. Actually like tremendously. Yeah. As soon as we harmonized we were like, what, Speaker 4 00:10:37 What just happened? Speaker 2 00:10:39 We just become best friends. Speaker 4 00:10:40 That's literally Speaker 1 00:10:41 What Yeah. Which is awesome. Now, so songwriting for you guys. I, I have no musical ability. I can't write a song or do any of that shit. Like Tyler Convey Can, can do some of that stuff. He's got that music background. But for you guys is songwriting kinda like a therapy thing where like, if you're like downward, so you're talking about like being in the blues huge for her. So is it, is it like a big just like release? Yes. Speaker 4 00:11:02 Yes. It's like the only way that I can Speaker 2 00:11:04 She'll like, she'll like, oh, you have to get back to the piano. Like, I needed a guitar. Where is it? Yeah. Like, kinda like a crack head. Honestly. She's a music crack Speaker 1 00:11:13 Head. Well it's gotta, well it's gotta be addictive. It is. I mean when you enjoy something that much it's gotta be a addictive. Yes. Speaker 4 00:11:21 So funny cuz I always tell you like I'm the queen of sad songs cause Speaker 1 00:11:28 And I've noticed and I feel like, yeah, and I've noticed with like pop music and like that style where it's like singer songwriters style and even like crossing over to like Americana and folk and things like that. The sad stuff like writing from sad places. And again, it's weird, I'm a 24 year old straight male and I'm, I'm jamming to Billy Eilish like all the time now. Which is weird cuz like my little cousins that's like, that are like 15 and 14 and 15, like go to her concerts and stuff and she's like this huge Teen sensation. But all of her songs are like real deeply like sad. I the Speaker 2 00:11:57 Same way she showed me the like Billy I had heard She, she, Speaker 1 00:12:00 But like, so it's like all of her songs are so deep and like sad, like yes, all like really. But then you put these like beats to it and it's just the way to like convey the message is insane. So for you guys to be able to do that, like it really fits in with where things are right now. And that style of music, that's gotta be pretty cool. Speaker 2 00:12:17 Which is something I love Billie Eilish like, don't get me wrong actually. Like when she wasn't even that big, like when Ocean Eyes like was Speaker 1 00:12:25 Isn't it crazy that she's so young doing? She's doing, it's so, so crazy. Fuck Speaker 2 00:12:28 Yeah. When I was listening to Ocean Eyes, I think she was probably like, I dunno, 14. But anyways, yeah, she's so freaking cool. But like a lot of the times people will be like, oh, you sound like as soon as I hear it I go, Yee I'm gonna go do a country song or something. Like, you won't. Speaker 1 00:12:45 So you don't like try to, don't avoid it. So you don't like being categorized being compared? I don't like to be categorized. You're you, you're Alexis, you're Brie. Like you guys are your own people. Speaker 2 00:12:54 I I'm the same with Taylor Swift. Yeah. Everyone says Taylor Swift. Yeah. And I'm like Speaker 1 00:12:57 Ah. Which I totally see. I love her. But people meet it as a compliment, you know, I know it's meant to be a compliment, but as artist and creative, you, you wanna, you're creating your own shit. Like Yeah there's Speaker 3 00:13:08 For that's also different between somebody that's trying to be an artist and somebody that's trying to be a writer. Cuz like if you're like, oh that song sounds like Taylor Swift or Billie ISS would cut that, that's a holy whole different game if you're a songwriter Yeah. As if you're an artist. Yes. Because you, you're not as an artist, you're not trying to copy somebody. You're trying to be original. But as a songwriter you're trying to write in the style of other people so that they might cut your songs. Speaker 1 00:13:30 So you're trying to get cuts. Yeah. Yeah. Right. Which for absolutely. Which for you guys now, so you guys are kind of in an interesting spot right now. This thing is still very much in the early stages <laugh> and it's so cool to watch it blossom. Watch it blossom. I'm like, I remember as I met, youre through Alexis and I remember being at The Wild Beaver, all of us out having a late, late night party. And it was probably like a Sunday night too. It was a night that we should not have been out Sunday or Monday. But what night isn't a night to be out in Nashville? Right, exactly. We were at The Wild Beaver. I remember you wearing a pink jacket. You remember what you were wearing? Like you were out having a good time. You were in Linda mode. Yeah, I was in Linda mode. Um, and you were having a good time and everybody was like, Hey, Alexis can sing. And I'm like, really? No shit. And they're like, yeah, she never really, she doesn't really sing. Like she's shy about it. And then you got up there and sang. Speaker 2 00:14:14 Oh, that was before you met Brie. Speaker 1 00:14:16 Yeah, that was this. I'm talking back in like the winter I'm talking about Yeah. Speaker 2 00:14:20 With Jamie Speaker 1 00:14:21 Somewhat close to this time last year. And you got up there and I was just like, holy shit. And then I was like, this girl's gotta somehow get out of her shell. And I remember you sat down and wrote Mockingbird with um, Jay, with with Dave. Dave and Ethan. Dave and Ethan and all that. And then, you know, just me to Brie and it was a similar kind of story how you were kind of in your shell and how you two kind of both brought each other out of it. And now y'all are getting in front of people, playing in town, in front of other writers, in front of industry people with confidence. Or at least it looks like confidence. I'm sure it's still growing. Speaker 4 00:14:53 I'm so awkward. Everyone knows. But it's, yes, Speaker 1 00:14:55 We're getting there. You guys look great up there at Live Oak at around the other day. Seriously. And like from watching especially you like, like where you guys started to where you are now. Like that's, it's so freaking cool to watch. But back to what the original question was. Um, so you guys are kinda doing like a songwriter duo thing right now. We are like, I guess it's still so early, like the artist process, like putting out music, like that's gotta be so far down the line. But where do you guys see yourselves right now as the sirens? Like y'all are pretty powerful duo. Those voices are powerful. The songs are powerful. Where, where do you see this thing kind of going? Speaker 2 00:15:28 I honestly just want it to be so organic. Like <laugh>, I just like, we're letting it, we're letting at first there for a second. We were starting to like pressure ourselves. We were like, we need to do like more rounds. We, but then it's like, we're we just met in August? Literally? Yeah. Yeah. So it's like we're thinking that we already know like our sound and stuff, but like even the songs like we were writing last night, like I can already tell that it's just growing and it's really cool to see that. And it's like, I don't know, Speaker 4 00:15:56 The longer that we're together and stuff, cuz like at the, the very, very beginning, you know, ak two months ago, it's like ak Speaker 2 00:16:01 Two months ago Speaker 4 00:16:02 Each, like taking each other's songs and kind of putting them like together and like adding our spin to it. Speaker 1 00:16:08 Yeah. Oh yeah. For sure. And and it's, and the fact that it's so new too has gotta be a crazy feeling. So a little bit about both of you guys. So we'll start with you Bree. So you're originally from upstate New York or Pennsylvania? Upstate New York. So Syracuse, what led you to Nashville? What, what's your life and music kind of been like? Speaker 4 00:16:27 Well, um, I, my family moved down here. They moved to Knoxville. Um, cuz my dad's in military and I would play Speaker 1 00:16:34 Like, your family's awesome by the way. Your mom and dad. My mom. They love you so much. They were super cool. Super chill. Speaker 4 00:16:40 They love you. Oh awesome. They Speaker 1 00:16:42 Were like, I'm glad you guys so much. I'm glad she's so cute. I'm glad. I'm glad somebody does. That's awesome. I'm glad somebody, everyone loves you. It's rare these days. No, except the guys with me all the time. You know, it's kinda like, like how you two are together all the time. Me and Tyler together all the time. But, so you moved very hard to see Matt without seeing me or me without Matt. Yeah. So So you moved? Yes. There you go. So, so not, so you moved to Knoxville. Yeah. How old were you when you moved down there? Speaker 4 00:17:07 Um, I was 11 and then so Speaker 1 00:17:08 That's, that's a big change. Yeah. Isn't it? Yeah. Syracuse in Knoxville. Yeah. Speaker 4 00:17:11 It is. It is. But we're really excited. Yeah. Yeah. Less snow. Miss the snow now. But Speaker 1 00:17:15 Yeah. Isn't it crazy? Like, I kind of miss, it's really different. Missed the snow. But then I, I see that like back home got like a foot of snow this weekend and I'm like, fuck that. Like I used to make money as a kid shoveling out driveways and stuff and like snow plowing and doing all that. But now I'm like, Speaker 4 00:17:27 Now we're driving in it. Speaker 1 00:17:28 Now we're driving in it and it's like, and now I get why my parents weren't happy about snow. Like, I get it now. Yeah. So you moved to Knoxville. What led you here to Nashville? Um, Speaker 4 00:17:36 Well so when we first got, when we first moved down south, my dad taught me how to play guitar. And I, it's funny cuz I had said for like ever I was gonna go to Nashville, I'm gonna go to Nashville. But then actually it took, it was 2016 and I was like, I think it's just time for a change. Time to time to get outta here. So came down and worked two jobs for almost two years and just now finally starting to get out there. I played like little shows back home, but Speaker 1 00:18:03 Like Speaker 4 00:18:04 My first like diving in. Speaker 1 00:18:05 That's gotta be so cool. That's gotta be so cool now to be doing it. It's so fun. Like when you think back to like envisioning like, this is what I want to do. Like this is the, the dream that I have. Yeah. And now you're out doing it. Speaker 4 00:18:16 So fun. And it's so cool Cause I'm doing it as someone who loves this Speaker 1 00:18:18 Much and that's doing your best friend. Y'all's Speaker 4 00:18:21 So much fun. Cause it's such a different Yeah. Thing than doing alone. Speaker 1 00:18:24 So you moved directly from Knoxville to here? Mm-hmm. <affirmative>. Okay. Sweet. Yep. And you have the coolest vibe, by the way, with your, your living situa with the van. Ha. I love it. Thank you. I love it. And I think it's so cool as a songwriter to be able to, to have that creative space. Like, you literally can go wherever you want. It's really cool and be creative. Yeah. It's like literally it's, it's gotta be. Cool. How long have you been doing that and how did that all come about, if you don't mind me asking? Speaker 4 00:18:48 Um, it's been a year and I was just, just wanted something different. I mean literally I was just so like stuck and complacent. So I was like, uh, this will be fun. So me and my dad just built it. Did it. Nice. Yeah. Speaker 3 00:19:00 So something I always like to ask, what was the two jobs when you first moved here that you were working? Speaker 4 00:19:05 Um, I was a preschool teacher and then I was serving Oh wow. I was literally bring my serving clothes to the school and changing the bathroom and go straight there, Speaker 1 00:19:12 So Oh wow. What preschool here at ta Where was the preschool at? Speaker 4 00:19:15 Um, it was off Charlotte as Primrose. Okay. Speaker 1 00:19:16 Oh nice. Speaker 4 00:19:17 So it was really fun, really cute, but getting straight my kids all day and then going <laugh> and serving all Speaker 1 00:19:22 Night. But, but hey, you have to hustle. Just like you really have to hustle just like girls and guys that go up to New York and wanna work on Broadway just like any other la just like any other kind of place like that where you have this, where you go with this dream, you gotta do what you gotta do to, to make it happen. So now for you, Alexis, you've been here you said two years. Yep. So you come from Indiana, I know that. Yep. And, um, and you've bounced around like quite a little bit, right? Yes. So what what's your, what's your story? Well, um, what's your deal, man? Oh my gosh. Speaker 2 00:19:52 Well, I went to school to be an architect that obviously didn't work Speaker 1 00:19:56 Out <laugh>. That explains, that explains that is so cool. That explains the drawings by the way. Which by the way, guys, that drawing we had put it up on our story. We're gonna be getting it, getting afraid and Speaker 2 00:20:05 Stuff. Yeah. I'm an idiot. And I forgot it at home. Speaker 1 00:20:06 No, but you're so freaking talented with the drawing stuff like the art, the art stuff. We're gonna Speaker 3 00:20:11 Put it up on our story Speaker 1 00:20:12 Again whenever. Yeah, no, we're gonna put it up on our fucking feed. We're gonna put it up. When we, when we announced it, we announce this episode, bro. Like seriously. Cause it's so freaking cool and so many people have complimented that. They're like, who the hell drew that? And we're like, oh, he Alexis. Speaker 2 00:20:24 Oh, oh, that so fun too. Speaker 1 00:20:25 Yeah. So, so architect school, where'd you go to school? Speaker 2 00:20:28 Well, I, I went to Ball State University. Okay, okay. Um, well then I was in my architect class first semester and he goes, you know, I don't know if this is for you <laugh>. He's like, but you're really good at drawing. Like, do you wanna switch to the art program? And I said, I guess like, what <laugh>? Yeah. So, and like I knew I didn't like it, so I was like, eh, all right. Whatever. I was just kind of floating around, you Speaker 1 00:20:55 Know? Speaker 2 00:20:55 Yeah. And then I did the whole art thing. I was like, yeah, nope. Yeah. Yeah. So, um, I go into my second year of college and I had a walking class and I couldn't find it, so I decided I quit school. Speaker 1 00:21:11 Okay. <laugh>. Nothing wrong with that. Okay. I mean, yeah. So, so you, so you leave Ball State, where do you go from there? Speaker 2 00:21:17 <laugh>. So I moved down to Miami and I had like, it's weird management down there. It's not good. Speaker 1 00:21:25 Okay. <laugh>. Speaker 2 00:21:26 But, um, I lived down there like on and off like, for like, oh gosh. Yeah. Then I moved back to Indiana, bartended, went to Indianapolis, lived there. Then I moved to Brooklyn, New York for Speaker 1 00:21:42 Like, hey, Speaker 2 00:21:43 A couple months. Speaker 1 00:21:44 What'd, what'd Speaker 2 00:21:44 Stayed in Airbnbs. And Speaker 1 00:21:45 What'd you, what'd you think of it up there? Speaker 2 00:21:47 I am obsessed with New York City. Yeah. I like, there's so much magic there. Did, did you see Speaker 1 00:21:52 Our, it's insane. Did you see our billboard <laugh>? Speaker 2 00:21:55 Yeah, I did. And but you know that video you took of like the Speaker 1 00:21:59 My little, my little brother's freaking thing? Speaker 2 00:22:02 Yeah. Every time I see like the buildings, my heart just races. Speaker 1 00:22:05 I love New York City so much. You don't know how much his fucking rent is, Speaker 2 00:22:08 How much Speaker 1 00:22:08 It's like he, so he splits it with a guy. It's him and, and his roommate. He's from Bangladesh, the roommate. Okay. And they pay I think each like 2200. Yeah. Or 2300 plus utilities. Yeah. For, yeah. For a cool, which that's New York City. Yeah. Literally. It's probably like the size of this room that we're in. Yeah, I believe that. Yeah. It's not, it's, it's on the penthouse level. It's fricking 500 something feet up in the air. I'm afraid of height. Saw Matt. Matt was like freaking out on that ripping the wall while I'm taking that video. I'm the door. Speaker 2 00:22:39 It was a solid, smooth. I Speaker 1 00:22:41 Was like, this is a cool, some the photos I, my phone, I had to, I was like, it's like a deer in the headlights. Yeah. I, I mean I had to get the cool video cause that view like is so cool. And it's, they live in, he lives near like the, um, like now the area's called Hudson Yards. And it's, it's, he's right near the World Trade Center and all that. Right. Near Times Square. And it's, it's dope and cool, but New York so much, there's an energy to New York. Oh my Speaker 2 00:23:03 Gosh. Yeah. It's unreal. Speaker 1 00:23:05 So what were you doing up in Brooklyn, if you don't mind me asking? Speaker 2 00:23:07 Well, that was what was cheapest at the time. Speaker 1 00:23:11 But what, no, but like what were you doing? Like what brought you to New York modeling? Okay. Speaker 2 00:23:15 Honestly, like, and I got signed and then I got in this little tiff with my roommate that we had like known each other since like sixth grade. And like, she was yelling at me for something I don't even remember. And I was, she goes to the bathroom, I'm like, ah, fucking bitch. And I packed my shit and I just had for the train. And then, uh, I get on the bus home to Indiana. Wow. Wow. That was it. It was like a 12 hour. I was so mad. Yeah. Speaker 1 00:23:44 But you just had to get outta that Speaker 2 00:23:46 Situation. I was so mad. And then literally two days later I didn't even unpack my bags. Um, my friend Owen, how he took me in under his wing and he's like a musician and businessman. Um, but he had a show in my hometown cuz that's, he we're from the same hometown. Yeah. And I was like, Hey, save me a ticket. I wanna come watch you. And he was like, why don't you just open up for me? And I go, what? Because like, at that time, I mean, like you said, I'm bashful like up until August of this year. So <laugh>, this was a few years ago. Uh, well two years ago actually. Uh, and yeah, he was like, just open up for me. And I go, okay. So gosh, I don't even remember the songs I sang. I think I sang like a Shania Twain song. Speaker 2 00:24:26 I totally, I sang country songs. Oh yeah. Cause he told me to. And like, I don't ever sing country. Um, well I do now kind of anyways, I'll do a cover or two. But after that he goes, all right, what are you doing? Like, are you going back to New York? And I was like, that was the plan. I was just gonna find a different roommate. And, uh, he's like, no, you're gonna come down to Nashville. I go, well, all right. So he let me live with him for a year and just like, watch his dogs cuz he like travels all the time. He's never home. Yeah. Um, and so it was just cheaper to like, have someone keep the lights on and watch his dogs and get a dog sitter for how much he was gone. So Speaker 1 00:25:02 Awesome. Speaker 2 00:25:03 Whole year. Wow. And it was a nice house. It was like one of those box houses like right above the river. Yeah. It Speaker 1 00:25:09 Was cool. But hey, that's a, that's a guy that we all gotta be thanking for getting you here to Nashville. Cause that that was, it was, it's a dude, Speaker 2 00:25:16 It was weird timing. Like Yeah. It Speaker 1 00:25:18 Was just like, I'm a big believer in I'm, yeah. I'm a big believer in every, everything happens for a reason. And my mom's a big believer in that and she kind of, I'm a big believer in that. Yeah, dude. Like everything happens for a reason. Like certain things happen for a reason and shit just kind of just kind of happens, you know, for better or for worse stuff happens, you know, and you just kind of gotta go with it. Speaker 2 00:25:35 Oh yeah. And it was just like, oh my gosh. Insane. Because I was kind of torn between modeling and music. Yeah. And that's why I went to New York, cuz obviously Speaker 1 00:25:44 You can do Yeah. But in Brooklyn you can do both. There is a music scene. Speaker 2 00:25:47 See, at the time though, I didn't think that though. Yeah. I was just like, I thought music was impossible. I, two years ago I thought there was no way, I really didn't think like I'd ever be doing music. I was like, oh, I'll just model, maybe get into acting or Speaker 1 00:25:59 Something. Yeah. Speaker 2 00:26:00 I, and I love music. I I had been playing guitar and piano. Yeah. So I was like torn between modeling and music and it was like, the universe was like music. Speaker 1 00:26:16 Sometimes it just happens like that. Yeah. Speaker 2 00:26:18 It's, it was like, it yanked me into, because like obviously I didn't like that fight with my roommate. Yeah. And like, that sucks cuz she was like a childhood friend. Yeah. So that kind of sucks. But like, she's still living in New York and thriving so much. Doing Speaker 1 00:26:30 Her thing. Yeah. Speaker 2 00:26:30 Yeah. I mean <inaudible>. Speaker 1 00:26:32 Yeah. No, but that, but it's awesome to see what you guys are doing here in Nashville now. Like to think Syracuse and small town Indiana, like to where you are now, like those journeys and to see you guys working together and, and killing it is, is badass. Seriously. And I'm excited to see where it goes. So now we're at the point where Boudreaux uh, Mr. Producer Boudreau, who's snacking over here, uh, chef Ethan Willis cooked some stuff up tonight. We've got some, I'm gonna say it in New York accent just for you guys, right? Sausage balls, uh, some sausage balls. Speaker 2 00:27:03 Oh, right. Speaker 1 00:27:04 And, and we've got these burgers. This one's green. It's kinda like the jalapeno in your balls. Speaker 3 00:27:08 Yeah, it was. I didn't know it was Oh, you Speaker 1 00:27:10 Had no idea. Speaker 3 00:27:10 Yeah. That was the little spicy Speaker 1 00:27:11 There. I watched, I watched him cook these and I'm like, what the hell's on the burgers? Dude? They's like yellow in this one and green in this one. He's like, oh, one's got a jalapeno, one's got cheese. I'm like, are you gonna tell people? He's like, no, they'll figure it out. I'm like, God damn. I'm like, damn. Speaker 2 00:27:22 See that? That's what happens to Bri is so she cannot do spicy things and I'll accidentally give her spicy things and she'll goes, you did it again. I like, my mouth is bleeding. And she's like, I'm sorry. Speaker 3 00:27:32 Can you do like hot chicken at all? Mm. Speaker 2 00:27:34 Oh God, though. Speaker 3 00:27:36 I was just gonna say, pepper kind makes me Yeah. Yeah. Pepper. I can tell when somebody like over peppered something. Speaker 2 00:27:42 Yes. Yes Speaker 1 00:27:44 It is. It is a real thing. You over pepper. Yeah. It's real thing. <laugh>. So, so we use it. So there's, so there's a variety of different games that we like to play and you guys are like two of our best friends. And we, we love having you guys in. This is really like a hang right now. This is awesome. Yeah. So we've got one game, Tyler, I'll let Tyler take it away. Okay. Speaker 3 00:28:00 So we have two games. The first game is this game called Personally Incorrect. So Think Cards Against Humanity, but with no Moral Compass. Speaker 1 00:28:09 It's wild. It's a shit show. Yes. It's uncensored. I it's crazy. I censored Speaker 3 00:28:13 A little bit because there are cards on there that we should not be saying on the podcast. Speaker 2 00:28:17 Um, like what C word. Speaker 1 00:28:20 No worries. That's Speaker 3 00:28:21 Get Speaker 1 00:28:21 The bad words. So we, so we, so we played this a couple episodes ago with, um, two guys, um, hunter Jordan and Evan Mayo, who are two of our good buddies from West Tennessee that were in town. And, um, I Speaker 2 00:28:33 Don't know what that is. Speaker 1 00:28:34 Okay. Should I google it? Nope. Nope. No, don't, don't. Yeah. Urban Dictionary is the go-to for all this stuff. Speaker 2 00:28:39 Dealer are showing us the bad cards in the background. You best believe them. Speaker 1 00:28:41 Just wonder. So when we, so when, when, um, when we, so when we played with Hunter and Evan, the first winning card was, was Hitler. Like, it's like a crazy game where there's just like fucked up things. Yeah. Yeah's gets pile this's a pile of Speaker 3 00:28:55 Bad ones. Yeah. This is the pile of stuff. Speaker 1 00:28:57 That's, that's the untouchable. I'll go through. I'll go through that later. So, so we've got this game or we've got, would you rather, which would you guys like to play this one? Oh hell yeah. Hell yeah. All right, we're down. All right, Tyler, Speaker 2 00:29:07 I'm looking up that word you just showed me and Oh, oh my God. Why don't you eat? No thanks, bye. No, thanks. Speaker 1 00:29:15 So the other card that, um, that Tyler showed Brie was, I believe called Twat Waffle. Yep. Speaker 2 00:29:21 Oh no, I looked up Clap stain. Oh Speaker 1 00:29:23 No, that's a bad one. Don't do that. Speaker 2 00:29:25 I don't understand it. Tyler, Speaker 1 00:29:26 Tyler loves this shit and he's having, he's having a little drinky poo. And this is a fun game to play. Drink Speaker 2 00:29:32 P That's not water. So wait, do I take, I take these and Speaker 1 00:29:35 That's so you take these, that's root beer Speaker 2 00:29:38 And Speaker 1 00:29:39 You could say it and bourbon give us a fuck. Yeah, it's bourbon. You're Speaker 2 00:29:42 You're drinking. Yeah. You're already still Speaker 1 00:29:44 Here. You're drinking. I did my thing before. We're having a good time. What's your thing? You know what my thing is? God dammit. Just listen to Ryan Nelson. Oh my God. Y'all know what goes on here. Ain't no secret. Just come back, Steve, my voice. Hey, hey, hey. So you, so you can't show the cards to people. Speaker 2 00:30:01 Forget about scumbag seat. Speaker 1 00:30:02 What? That song's gonna be coming. I'm, I'm excited for it. It's ready. So basically what we, how this works, it's like Cards Against Humanity where somebody draws a card, but you have to put somebody's name with it. So it'll be, it'll be a blank. So like, cards Against Humanity where you have to try to put the card because it's like the question. So I'll go, I'll go first, for example. I'm so confused. Yeah, I'll go first. Let's, so that says, the thing says, um, on Christmas break, insert name received blank, the gift that keeps on giving. So I'll have to say for example, so we'll make this funny and cuz he is in there and he is not in here taking photos, doing his job on Christmas break, Coda Bear received blank. The gift that keeps on giving. So you guys are gonna pick the card that goes in the blank. Doesn't have to make sense. It could be highly inappropriate, it could be fucked, it could be whatever. Speaker 2 00:30:48 Also. Oh, this one actually, what do I do? And it is really funny. And you'll get it, Matt. Speaker 1 00:30:52 So you gonna put, you're gonna put 'em right here? Yep. And then I'm gonna, and then I'm gonna read 'em. You're not gonna tell me which one's yours and whichever one I like the best. Oh, you're Speaker 2 00:30:58 Gonna know cause I say it. Okay. Speaker 1 00:31:01 So, and I'm gonna read it out loud with the, with the thing. So <laugh>, oh, this is great. Odd Christmas break. Coda Bear received racist Christmas presents the gifts that the gift that keeps on giving. So that one's good on Christmas break. Koda Bear received crazy Wild Party Girls. Oh, that is a gift. He would like the gift that keeps on giving <laugh> on Christmas break. Koda Bear received Toothless whores. The gift that keeps on giving <laugh>, uh, toothless. Who picked Toothless Horse? Hey, this is the New York vibe. I like it. We're on that level. All right. Congratulations. You got, you get a card. Oh my gosh. Thank you. So whoever, whoever has the most cards at the end is the winner. All Speaker 3 00:31:41 Right. And there's Speaker 1 00:31:42 Six rounds and there's, we're gonna do six rounds. Speaker 2 00:31:43 You just pick a random name. Yeah, Speaker 1 00:31:45 Yeah. You just pick anything. Speaker 3 00:31:46 Just can't be sitting at this table. Speaker 1 00:31:47 Yep. Oh, this can't be sitting at this table, but it, but like, celebrity random person. You can make up somebody. Whatever. I Speaker 2 00:31:54 Want to get scumbag. You wanted me to put all, so who's up? You wanted to put me with scumbag, Steve? Speaker 1 00:31:59 All right, so who's up next? You're up? Yeah, I'm up next. All right. So Tyler's up. Here we go Speaker 3 00:32:03 For Ethan's magic trick. Next he will pull blank out of a hat. Speaker 1 00:32:12 Where's the card? Right here? Speaker 3 00:32:14 Yeah, yeah, yeah. Speaker 1 00:32:17 Oh, nevermind. I got one. Can I pull it back? Speaker 3 00:32:19 Yeah, go ahead. All right. Speaker 1 00:32:20 Oh, this is gonna be bad. Speaker 3 00:32:22 <laugh>. Speaker 1 00:32:24 All right, Brie, here we go. What do you got? Let's see. What do we got Tyler? I have a, Speaker 3 00:32:27 I have a feeling that Bree's gonna win this one. Speaker 1 00:32:29 I have a feeling Bree's gonna gonna go six for six. Yeah. Speaker 3 00:32:32 <laugh>. Well, no, there's six rounds of four. Speaker 1 00:32:34 Oh, six rounds of four. Okay. Yeah, it takes a Speaker 3 00:32:36 Little while. So, uh, for Ethan's magic trick, next he will pull incest out of a hat. Damn. Next he will pull butt buddies out of a hat. Next he will pull fresh roadkill out. A hat's go with fresh roadkill. Speaker 1 00:32:51 Fresh roadkill. The guests are smokeless. What the fuck? Speaker 2 00:32:55 You know what's funny? So Fresh Road, Kell, from where I'm from, like, if we hit any kind of animal, I had to call my uncle Amos because he wanted it. You have Speaker 1 00:33:05 An uncle Amo Speaker 4 00:33:06 Uncle Amos. Can we a song about him? Speaker 2 00:33:08 Uncle? Yeah, absolutely. He's the coolest guy. So he also, Speaker 4 00:33:10 You're this one. Speaker 2 00:33:11 Sorry, Amos, but like my dad totally told me this, so I don't know if they know if, but anyways, he has like a deer antler pipe, like to smoke weed out Speaker 1 00:33:19 Of. That's so cool. That's awesome. That's bad. I want Speaker 4 00:33:22 Everyone Speaker 1 00:33:23 See it. See? Go. See, I've smoked out of an elk bowl. Like an elk antler. Speaker 2 00:33:27 It might be that. Speaker 1 00:33:28 Don't know, like dad something. No, but a pipe is like, like a gandolph pipe. Like that's legit. That's, that's so, gee, I respect the shit outta that. Speaker 2 00:33:35 Amos is about ass. Oh, Speaker 4 00:33:37 Amos. Same as Amos. That's his name. Speaker 1 00:33:39 Go ahead. Where's the song? All right. Which, which pile that you pick from Speaker 3 00:33:42 The, the question card. Speaker 1 00:33:43 Pick from there. Read the card, put a name. Speaker 4 00:33:48 I found out that Dave Hangley is selling blank online. What's Dave selling online? Wait, Speaker 2 00:33:57 Do I grab a new cart? Speaker 1 00:33:58 Oh, do we grab new carts? Speaker 1 00:35:05 See, Dave is like the real life. I'm looking out for him. Really? Dave? Dave. He's the real life. Ron Swanson. So like Ron Swanson for Parks and Rec would not condone gluten-free bullshit. So like, I think, yeah, I had to fuck with Dave. I thought it was good card. I mean, but if American's in school, Speaker 4 00:35:20 I, I don't wanna get in trouble for like, selling people. Yeah, you can't. Kind of bad. Speaker 1 00:35:24 Kind of Just a little bit. Incorrect. Personally Speaker 1 00:55:18 Incorrect. If You'all want to ever play personally incorrect. Look it up. I think you could probably get this is we're not very nice winner. Probably Speaker 3 00:55:23 Actually they don't sell it anymore, but they Speaker 2 00:55:25 Don't Speaker 3 00:55:25 Sell it anymore. It was a Speaker 1 00:55:26 Spencer's game. This game was discontinued because it was so, because they went Speaker 3 00:55:31 With, uh, what do you meme? That's what this game got discontinued Speaker 1 00:55:34 For. Look, well, you know, Hey look what's, look what's right behind you. What do you mean? So, um, personally incorrect. You could probably get it on, uh, eBay or something like that. So if you guys ever wanna play, highly recommend playing. It is a fucked up game to play with your friends while you're getting fucked up and having a good time. So you guys have fun doing that? Yes. Yeah. Speaker 2 00:55:52 Yes. Speaker 1 00:55:53 All right. So let's talk about TikTok. How long you guys been doing that? Dude, Speaker 2 00:55:55 I just downloaded it today. No, I downloaded it last night and then never even got on it. But here's the thing. We make stupid little videos all the time like Speaker 1 00:56:02 That. Yes. So Ethan. So, so my, so my little, my little bit with that. So I'm not on TikTok at all. Um, the guys that we go out on the road with the, the band, they, they just got TikTok and, and it's working well for them. It's a good way like connect with fans. It kind of reminds me of what like Vine was. Yes. You know, it's very, it's very Vine. Um, except for it can go longer. Yeah. It can, it can go a little bit longer, but it, but it's short form, quick to the point videos that millennials are going eat the shit out of. So, um, um, this dic Yeah. So Ethan and Dakota, they went out. So I was up in, up in, up in, we were up north New York. We were up in the north. We were up in, uh, actually we were in Philly visiting my dad, uh, for Thanksgiving. Speaker 1 00:56:39 And um, we, um, Ethan and Coda send us Snapchat and they spent fricking like almost $700 on all the Christmas decorations that are in this house, which is insane. Like just a crazy amount of Are you kidding me? Yeah, like look outside the they're not here. Yeah. Yeah. They're not in this room. Yeah. Like all the stuff that's outside and stuff. But anyway, they took a video. They took a little, Ethan took like a little stupid stupid TikTok like of the, of the price and was like, Coda, what'd you buy? Coda videos got over a hundred thousand views on TikTok. Like it's going viral. So like stupid shit. It goes really well on like, on like that stuff. But as artists, like you guys can really do a lot with like your late night videos that you do with you guys singing and speaking of videos going viral <laugh>. Let's talk about that. Yeah. I'm surprised we, we went and did all the fucked up shit first, uh, before talking about this. So you guys did a video with Veronica Burns, another great mutual friend of ours and it got picked up by some big Instagram accounts. And so talk about that video. Um, why you guys chose that cover and just the process of that. Because I'm sure the things have been booming a little bit since that. Cause that was what, two weeks ago? Three weeks ago? Maybe a month. Like Speaker 2 00:57:52 A week and a half. That was it. A week and a half ago. Speaker 1 00:57:54 Oh shit. It's like a week and a ago. You're in like Mississippi. Yeah. So what, so the song that you guys covered was what Speaker 4 00:58:01 Someone You Love by Louis Capaldi. Speaker 1 00:58:03 Okay. Why that song? Speaker 2 00:58:05 So actually that was the first song that we had ever covered. But like, here's the thing though. Veronica came over and she is like out drinking some wine and had some dinner and let's do this song. And we were like, whoa. That was our first song we ever sang together. So we're like, sure, let's do it. And we had never done three part harmonies. I'm just now figuring out how to do harmonies. Like harmonies are hard and she's a queen at them. Like Brie's voice will literally hug your voice. It's like, it's almost like adding reverb on your voice, like to make you sound that're Speaker 1 00:58:33 Getting a hug from Jake the manager. Speaker 2 00:58:35 Yes, exactly. And that's Brie's voice. So, um, yeah. Speaker 4 00:58:39 Yeah. And we were just like, let's go and see what it sounds like in the stairwell mess around and practice it. And then we were what in the Stawell for like 15 minutes and we just recorded get and uh, had almost like it has over a million. Speaker 2 00:58:54 It has over a million views. Speaker 4 00:58:55 Yeah. The first one that did it and then there was like five other ones that picked it up. Speaker 2 00:58:58 I haven't checked in while So Speaker 4 00:58:59 Col Yeah, I haven't checked it Speaker 2 00:59:00 In a while either, but we keep getting Speaker 1 00:59:01 What was, what was the big account? It was something like Voices of Instagram or World Class Voices. Speaker 4 00:59:06 World Best Voices. Speaker 1 00:59:08 So how did they find it? I think Speaker 2 00:59:09 They trying Veronica's page. Speaker 4 00:59:11 Well, I don't know. Did you guys, Speaker 2 00:59:12 Because it's Veronica's video. Speaker 4 00:59:14 It Speaker 2 00:59:14 Is. Yeah. Cuz it's yours had a filter on it and that one didn't. Speaker 1 00:59:18 So like, but you guys were like all tagged in there. So like you've probably have you guys had people Speaker 2 00:59:22 I was tagged incorrectly. <laugh>. Speaker 1 00:59:24 Really? Yeah. Speaker 2 00:59:25 I Speaker 4 00:59:25 Got like 400 followers. Speaker 2 00:59:26 Got six. How many? No, I got a hundred. Speaker 4 00:59:29 Oh, okay. Well that's good then. Yeah. Cause Speaker 2 00:59:31 They haven't go to your page and find me. Speaker 4 00:59:33 Yeah, I I kept commenting on it too. I was like, this is, that's not her. Cuz I thought real Speaker 2 00:59:36 Bad. Yeah. Okay. And this is bad, but, so it was Alexis Cook with two underscores. I'm doing it. I'm just gonna tell 'em with two underscores. Well they only did one. So I went to the girl with Alexis Cook one underscore and I reported her cuz I wanted my name to be that. Yeah. And then it just blocked Speaker 1 00:59:55 Me. So is that part, is that part of the reason with the he Alexis? Yeah. Speaker 2 01:00:00 Changed. It Speaker 4 01:00:01 Changed. Speaker 2 01:00:02 She's been calling me. He for like, Speaker 4 01:00:05 Um, Speaker 2 01:00:06 A long time ago. Like yeah, Speaker 4 01:00:07 A long time. That's her name in my phone. Ca calls me that now. Yeah. Like I call her that so much like I probably ever call her. Speaker 2 01:00:12 So it's like it is just he now I guess it happens. I just, I was like, you know what script I'm just gonna freaking completely change it. Texas likes us now. Makes more sense. It Speaker 4 01:00:20 Was really cool though. Speaker 1 01:00:21 But do you guys, do you guys have like the actual part of that video? Like, do you guys have that video on hand? Yeah. So what we're gonna do, um, you guys also, Speaker 2 01:00:28 The comments are very Speaker 1 01:00:29 Funny. So y'all Yeah, we'll get the comments in one second. Y'all listen in at home right now. Um, you've probably already seen it. Um, on our Instagram account, we're gonna post that video. We'll have, uh, Brian, Alexis, um, or Veronica, whoever send us, send us that video and we'll put that on our, uh, on our feed so y'all can check it out and hear this the beautiful harmony that along with the photo. We got a lot to put on there. Like, because we have that drone. I Speaker 2 01:00:52 Wanna go to your page and find, Speaker 1 01:00:56 So like, so you guys recorded that at like, what time of night was that? Like super late at night? Yeah, Speaker 2 01:01:01 It was late. It was like 11. Speaker 4 01:01:05 Not too crazy, but it was definitely not like a planned thing. Which why so funny. Cause it never is Speaker 1 01:01:09 Like, and you were freaking laying down in the grass. I saw people commenting like they Speaker 2 01:01:12 Were so upset. Speaker 1 01:01:13 Yeah, they were. Because there's like vocal people that are like vocal vocalists and stuff like trained vocalists and they're seeing you lay down and hitting those notes and they're probably like, how the fuck is she doing that Speaker 3 01:01:25 <laugh>? Like I know a lot of times, like whenever I was taking vocal lessons, like they'd have me lay down to like teach proper breathing and all that. Speaker 2 01:01:30 Well and I was like the low harmony. Yeah. So honestly I think that kind of helped. Really. Speaker 3 01:01:34 Yeah. Yeah. Speaker 2 01:01:36 Cause Speaker 3 01:01:38 Cause you have to use like your diaphragm and stuff when you're laying down. Absolutely. You can't use your chest or anything like that. You have to push from your diaphragm. Speaker 1 01:01:45 Yeah. Speaker 2 01:01:45 People were funny in that. But yeah, so it has 1,169,785 views. Speaker 4 01:01:52 <laugh>. Sheesh, not many. Speaker 1 01:01:55 Wow. Speaker 3 01:01:56 You know, just, just that number. Speaker 1 01:01:58 Wow. Speaker 2 01:01:59 Yeah. And it's got 627 comments. Speaker 1 01:02:01 So there's, there's real interaction with that. That's awesome. Speaker 2 01:02:04 Oh man. Mostly Speaker 1 01:02:05 Compliments and good things. Yeah, Speaker 2 01:02:06 A lot of of 'em are really nice. Speaker 4 01:02:08 Even like the mean ones were just kind of like, eh, there's funny, are funny like, like everyone was really cool Speaker 2 01:02:15 When someone said, and I was like, we kind of were like, should we troll 'em? Should we not? Speaker 4 01:02:20 We were just nice if we were responding, we were Speaker 2 01:02:22 Nice. No, I, I trolled and it was just kinda weird. <laugh>, I love trolling. Someone, someone said something. They're like, they're not even that good. And I put, do you wanna make out? Yeah. Speaker 4 01:02:30 She said You wanna make out? Speaker 1 01:02:31 I like, I saw you right that Yeah. Speaker 4 01:02:33 All in good fun. But yeah, so Speaker 2 01:02:35 Like I didn't say anything mean or spiteful. It was just like, gosh, who cares? Who like with all the mean ones it's like, why do you care so much? You know? Yeah. Speaker 4 01:02:43 My dad was so cute. He was just kept refreshing it. He was keeping up with the number. He was like texting my grandma. Speaker 1 01:02:48 They gotta be proud of you. That's awesome. That's so cool. Love it. So now for you guys, so we always, um, we always like to wrap this up with everybody playing original music. Yeah. So for you guys as um, as writers and stuff, you guys have been writing a lot. Um, is there a certain song you guys would like to play for us tonight? Yeah. Speaker 2 01:03:03 Actually Speaker 1 01:03:04 Which one? Speaker 2 01:03:05 So it's called Alive. Um, and it's actually probably our most country one that I Speaker 1 01:03:09 Don't know if I, Speaker 4 01:03:10 And it's the first cover that we did, like when we met. Yeah. We like stayed up on your Speaker 1 01:03:13 Floor Speaker 4 01:03:14 Was wine and Speaker 1 01:03:15 Red. Don't Did you guys play this one? Um, at the round. So I don't know if I've ever heard this one. I think you might have sent it to me cuz you sent me all the work tapes. Mm-hmm. <affirmative>. No. Oh yeah, we Speaker 4 01:03:22 Didn't play it. Wow. So you we were gonna play it at the Speaker 1 01:03:24 Round. So you, so so we're gonna have you grab the guitar in just a second. Tyler gets to do all of his editing stuff. I gotta make you do something, you know, so, um, I Speaker 3 01:03:30 Do a lot of work. Okay, Speaker 1 01:03:32 <laugh>. I know, I know. But where can people go to find you guys on like social media and stuff? Speaker 4 01:03:37 Oh, um, sirens, music. Speaker 1 01:03:39 So Sirens. How do you spell that? Speaker 4 01:03:40 Oh, um, it is spelled with two Ys. So it's s y r y n sd Be Original, unique. Speaker 2 01:03:46 And right now, um, we only have Instagram, but we're about to, we'll probably make a YouTube tonight or something. Speaker 1 01:03:50 Yeah, we're gonna y I think YouTube would be super effective for y'all. YouTube and TikTok would be like huge. Speaker 2 01:03:56 We do weird videos like that all the time. Like we're really Speaker 1 01:03:59 Show that stupid stuff. But but you show that personality. Yeah. And that's what people love to connect with is the, is the personality. Especially in that that pop alternative world. People love that being on like that kind of vibe cuz they really relate to you and then they relate to the lyrics more and there you go. Yeah, absolutely. Than Speaker 2 01:04:15 Your app. It's become more relatable. Speaker 1 01:04:17 Yeah, no and that and um, and that's what it's all about for sure. So seriously, you guys, the freaking talent is insane and I'm so happy and sweet, proud of watching you guys from two, I mean I know it's only been two months, but I'm excited to see where it all goes and all that. So love you guys. Love you. And uh, another episode. Tyler. This was a fun one. Oh yeah, it's late. We played the card. We played the uh, the bad card game and we had a good time. I do Speaker 3 01:04:45 Have one. Would you rather? So this was the first one to pop up and I just thought it was, dang it, it went away. Anyways, that's another one then. So I got two. Okay. All right. So the first one is, would you rather have a boring career or have a career that you love but you always are always skiing your life doing it? Speaker 2 01:05:03 Oh, definitely. Like the career you love risking your life. Speaker 3 01:05:07 I, I feel that way too. Unless it comes to heights, then I'm Speaker 1 01:05:11 Out. Oh yeah. Heights. Fuck that. Speaker 4 01:05:12 See I was trying to think, I was like, so like what are we talking here risking your life? Like cuz I'm scared or cuz like I'm swimming with sharks every day. <laugh>. Yeah. I guess if I love swimming with the sharks it'd be okay. <laugh>. Speaker 1 01:05:24 Yeah. I mean I'd probably have to go with what I love too. Like Yeah, Speaker 4 01:05:26 You gotta do Speaker 2 01:05:27 Too. I mean you're always risking. Yeah. Kind of like you never know what's gonna happen anyways. So it's like, Speaker 3 01:05:31 And I feel like with like musicians, like there's always something like be honest, like musicians don't make a ton of money. Like we make a good living but we don't make a ton of money. Speaker 4 01:05:41 God. But doing what we love. Speaker 3 01:05:42 Yeah. But like we always choose what we love and Speaker 1 01:05:44 Always follow you don feel like it's, you don't feel like it's work. You know, you never work a day in your life which is know freaking awesome. It's Speaker 3 01:05:50 Great to never hate going to work. Absolutely. Like I've worked a lot of jobs where it was a tour to go to even get outta bed to go and like there's no matter how bad the situation, I've never hated going to something that, you know, is sound related because I love it. Yeah, Speaker 4 01:06:05 Right. There's so many times where we're just like spend a whole day just out and writing and it's like, man, I can't wait till we can just do this all the time. Like Speaker 2 01:06:12 Well and it's cool because we actually feel productive, which is funny cuz it's like I tell a lot of people it probably isn't, but then like we sit there and like we feel so accomplished cuz like we'd like gotten three songs written and like stayed in our mind. It's Speaker 4 01:06:25 Also, I lived off a coffee like Yeah. Speaker 3 01:06:27 It's also like one of those things I feel like was songwriting and you know what a lot of musicians do where at first people don't understand it because you have to put in a lot of work to get really good at it, but like eventually it pays off. You know? So like, it's something that we do and we love and we don't always make money at it because you can spend three hours writing a song that does nothing for you. Or I could spend, you know, three hours, you know, learning something about sound or playing guitar that makes me no money, but it's an investment into your future and into what you love and to growing your craft and growing your career. Yeah, Speaker 1 01:07:05 Absolutely, absolutely. Wise words there from Boudreaux. Love you Boudreau. That's awesome. Yeah. So you guys, thank you for listening to, uh, this week's edition of the In the Round podcast. Um, always a blast. Thank you ladies for coming in. No more Alexis Cook. Speaker 2 01:07:56 Nope, I'm not Alexis Cook anymore. <laugh>. I am he Lexus. She's blocked girl. That girl is blocked. Speaker 4 01:08:03 Alexis Cook is an Alexis. Speaker 2 01:08:05 She's hooked and she's gone. Speaker 4 01:08:06 Oh. Speaker 1 01:08:06 Oh boy. And then you guys can always find us just a wandering Tyler and at Map and then of course at in the Round podcast we do these writers' rounds now over at Live Oak, um, over on Music Row in Demian, which are awesome. We have, we, we do have one tonight on the 16th and the 30th and we have one on the 30th as well. So it's gonna be awesome. So you guys make sure you check those out and uh, pop by.
