Speaker 1 00:00:13 What's up everybody? Welcome back to the this week's edition of the In the Round podcast. You got Matt and Tyler and we have with us a guy that we've been wanting to sit down and do a podcast episode with for a while. We've had a lot of your buddies on, and it's a guy that I really dig in town. His sound is unique. He's badass writer. Great dude. It's our buddy Chad Bishop Chad, how you doing? Pretty Speaker 2 00:00:34 Good. How about yourself? Doing well Speaker 1 00:00:36 Man. Thanks for taking time out on your Monday, uh, to come out and, and hang with us. Cause I know you're busy. You're, you're out on the road a lot and you got stuff that you do here in town. So thanks for taking the time out, Speaker 2 00:00:48 Dude. No problem. Speaker 1 00:00:49 How have you been? Speaker 2 00:00:50 Pretty good. Uh, just got back from Texas last Tuesday. Yeah, it's Monday now. Yeah, I don't anymore. Uh, yeah, just got back from Texas and then just been really working and working on the record that I'm doing and whatnot. Speaker 1 00:01:04 Dude, congrats on that. That's huge. Thank you. Uh, what was Texas like? Speaker 2 00:01:09 Uh, a lot of miles. Speaker 1 00:01:11 A lot of miles. Speaker 2 00:01:11 A lot of miles. How many Speaker 1 00:01:12 Miles total on the trip? Speaker 2 00:01:14 I have no idea. Just a lot. I didn't track it. <laugh>, just a whole lot of driving. At one point I was like 20 miles from Mexico. Speaker 1 00:01:22 Oh shit. So you got fucking south? Speaker 2 00:01:24 Oh Speaker 1 00:01:25 Yeah. Like So you've covered you guys, did you guys cover like the whole state? Speaker 2 00:01:29 Well, when I was there I was just visiting a buddy. He has a ranch down there. Oh, okay. A town called the Pryor. But we're playing, we're going back in September and we're playing in a town called Uvalde. And which is, that's pretty close too, so. Oh damn. It's right down the road. Speaker 1 00:01:46 Damn, dude. That's, that's awesome man. So you talk about, um, your, your journey of getting to Nashville. How long you been doing the music thing? Cause you're a Florida boy and there's quite a few of you, uh, Florida boys that are up here. Speaker 2 00:01:58 Yeah, we we're adding up now Speaker 1 00:01:59 Making a lot of noise. Especially in, in that midtown scene of playing whiskey jam, revival, like really being in with the, with the scene over there. There's a lot of you guys that are Oh yeah. Who can classified now as heavy hitters as far as just getting out there and doing the damn thing. What brought you to Nashville? Speaker 2 00:02:16 I have no idea, really. I, uh, I started writing songs pretty young and then I went to college and I was just kind of playing some bar gigs and whatnot and I started writing with some people up here, Josh Phillips and Ray Fulcher and all them Oh shit. <laugh>. And uh, and I was like, maybe I can do this. I have no idea. And I was like, screw it, I'm 19 or 20, whatever I was. And I was like, I'm moving. So I think I was 20 by the time I actually left. Speaker 1 00:02:49 Damn. And you just packed up and, and went for it. Yeah. And you had some friends that were in town and stuff. Dude, that's, that's huge. Like, to make, to make that like, kind of move like that. Uh, what was your initial thought of Nashville? Because it's, I'm sure it's different than where you're from in Florida, cuz you're from like, Speaker 2 00:03:06 Oh, it's way different. You're Speaker 1 00:03:07 From like Florida. Florida where there's gators and, and it's country as fuck. Like, not Orlando, not Tampa, not Miami. Like you're, Speaker 2 00:03:15 I'm about an hour South Miami. Speaker 1 00:03:18 Yeah. You're fucking, Speaker 2 00:03:19 And then like, it's like five, 10 minutes from the Everglades. Speaker 1 00:03:23 Yeah. It's fucking, Speaker 2 00:03:24 So we're kind like near like plaid all or No, it's like, it's 20 minutes from the key. 20, 25 minutes from the Keys. Okay, Speaker 1 00:03:30 Cool. At the actual tip? Tip? Yeah. Speaker 2 00:03:32 Right in, right in this like slap dab middle of the Everglades. Okay, cool. Speaker 1 00:03:36 Oh shit. So you're really seeing alligators and shit? Yeah. I Speaker 2 00:03:39 What Speaker 1 00:03:40 Do you do if an alligator? What do you do if an alligator just shows up? Speaker 2 00:03:44 Kill it. <laugh> <laugh>. Speaker 1 00:03:46 But like what Speaker 2 00:03:47 Smash from the north. He doesn't know how to handle Speaker 1 00:03:49 'em yet. I don't know how to, I don't like, I've never seen, I don't Speaker 2 00:03:51 You, you haven't seen one yet, have you? No, Speaker 1 00:03:53 We didn't see any, seen that soon. We were in Cedar Key. We didn't see any. Speaker 2 00:03:57 Yeah. Cedar Kee really didn't have anything cuz it was all saltwater and shit there. But Speaker 1 00:04:03 Yeah. Speaker 2 00:04:04 We'll, we'll change that. Come hang out with me. We'll go look at Yeah dude, Speaker 1 00:04:07 I want, yeah dude, I, I want go and, and see and experience all that shit cuz you, you do a lot of hunting, like that's a big thing for you. Yeah. Uh, Speaker 2 00:04:17 Besides music, it's probably one of my favorite things to ever do. Speaker 1 00:04:20 Yeah. What are you growing up hunting though? Like, what's your favorite, what's like what was first for you? What was the first Speaker 2 00:04:25 Thing you Uh, I think I shot my first armadillo at like three. Oh Speaker 1 00:04:29 Shit. Speaker 2 00:04:30 But I killed my first deer at, I was eight and I killed my first hog at like five or something. Yeah. Hog hunting's a big thing. Yeah. It it's pretty popular down there. Yeah, same where where I'm at. Especially with the farmers and shit, like Oh yeah, they pay you to take 'em out. I mean, nobody wants 'em, they just ruin everything they do. Speaker 1 00:04:53 Yeah. We don't have those up up north. I've never really had to deal with that. I've seen the videos of like people in like fucking helicopters with like ar fifteens like flying down low and like just blowing up like three, 400 pound gator or no, uh, hogs. Hogs. Like they're fucking, they get pretty freaking big. Speaker 2 00:05:10 Yeah. Me and my buddy Kyle actually shot some one time that were, they had to be, I mean we didn't weigh 'em, but they had to be at least like 450 pounds. Yeah. It took every bit of both of us to drag it across the road to get it to where we needed to be. Speaker 1 00:05:25 Holy shit. Speaker 2 00:05:26 We killed two of that size. Me and a me and a buddy saw one and at first we like mistook it to be a hay bell. Like that's how big that thing was. Geez. I've seen hogs that I thought were bears. Yeah. Really? Yeah. Yeah. They're huge. Speaker 1 00:05:40 Wow. Holy shit. So have Speaker 2 00:05:42 You seen a panther down there in the s swamps yet? Oh yeah. I was Turkey hunting one time and I had six of them come out and they all had rabbits in their mouth eating shit. They were like 30 yards from one night. I was driving like a back road and uh, I was driving a buddy's house of mine and he lives like way out in the sticks and I pulled down his drive and there's like this black animal like kind of coming towards me. I'm like, oh, it's a black lab. Like one of the neighbor's dogs got loose and like I was gonna stop and like check its tags and all the way I go to stop and I'm about to open my door and I'm like, shit, that's not a dog. That's a fucking panther. Nah. Speaker 1 00:06:20 Are these like black panthers? Like, Speaker 2 00:06:22 I mean they're, they're pretty much a cougar. It's not really. Yeah. Yeah, they had some dude, I don't know the whole story, but someone b way back in the day just brought in the mountain lion and introduced it into Florida that way the Florida panther wouldn't be extinct, but it pretty much is. I mean yeah, it's just a mountain lion. There's nothing special. Right, Speaker 1 00:06:42 Okay. Speaker 2 00:06:43 It's just smaller cuz it's like 900 degrees in Florida all Speaker 1 00:06:46 The time. Yes. So they're not, they're not these ginormous cougars that you're seeing. I'm like the like, like the Canadian hunting, like Speaker 2 00:06:53 Yeah. Speaker 1 00:06:54 The north woods and they're having fucking cougars that are bigger. Speaker 2 00:06:57 I got mine mixed up with like a lab, like, you know, they're that size. Speaker 1 00:07:01 Okay. Speaker 2 00:07:02 But yeah. Gotcha. Speaker 1 00:07:03 I gotcha. So yeah, hunting in Tennessee, how is that different for you? Speaker 2 00:07:07 I don't have access to as much land. Speaker 1 00:07:10 You miss that? Yeah. Yeah. I bet. I bet It's gotta be hard to find the land. Especially like I Speaker 2 00:07:17 Hunt a lot of public lands, so. Speaker 1 00:07:18 Okay. Now are you, are you mostly like around Nashville or do you have to go out in different various spots? Tennessee? Speaker 2 00:07:24 Both. I mean, uh, I uh, I'd usually travel about like an hour out or something. Okay. 30 minutes. I go to this place called lbl L every year. It's right just north of us land. Between the lakes, it's half of it's in Kentucky, half of it's on Tennessee. Oh, nice. And so there's a, there's like, I have no, there's a bunch of land out there and so it's all public and everything. We go there and camp for a few days and hang out. Speaker 1 00:07:49 Damn <laugh>. So you still get to do the country thing while living in Nashville? Like the country, country thing. Speaker 2 00:07:54 Oh, I'm trying to move out like out to Lebanon. I'm, I'm getting out of the, even I live in Hermitage and it's even too compact there. Really Speaker 1 00:08:01 Hate it. So for you congestion, so for you like where we're at right now, this is like this, Speaker 2 00:08:05 This is y'all city folk. Speaker 1 00:08:06 This is too tight. Okay. Damn. So you're really from like out there, where did you grow up By like swamps and stuff or like what Speaker 2 00:08:15 Was, I mean I grew up in a town called Homestead. My dad farm my whole life and we lived on the farm and whatnot and it was right down the road from the Everglades. So grew up hunting and fishing and doing all that about every day or every chance I could at least. Speaker 1 00:08:28 How close was the nearest Walmart? Speaker 2 00:08:32 I don't know Speaker 1 00:08:34 Because I've asked time of this question. His was like an hour, his was an hour away. Speaker 2 00:08:38 Really? It was 20 minutes to like the nearest gas station. It was probably like 20 minutes or so. Yeah. If I ever took my, it wasn't outrageous. If I ever took my truck past the last gas station with a quarter tank or less, I wasn't making it back to the gas station. I mean like South Florida's pretty populated and stuff, but like there's areas of it that there's just not really anybody there besides farmers or Right. People that live out there. Yeah, Speaker 1 00:09:06 Yeah, yeah. <laugh>. That's cool. Cuz coming from New York, like I never got to experience a lot of that stuff. I mean upstate New York though is very, very country and remote and Speaker 2 00:09:14 Shit. I'm pretty sure my dad went deer hunting up there one time. Yeah, Speaker 1 00:09:17 Dude. Well the thing that the laws are so different that there's, the deer live a lot longer up there cuz there's not as many of us that are like allowed to hunt. Hunt and stuff. And there's a lot more like areas where there's, the government's just really strict about it. So these deer get to be fucking massive and then they end up getting to a spot where they, where people can, people can take 'em and you get some massive fucking deer in New York and like New Jersey, like that whole area. Speaker 2 00:09:41 Well I want an invite. Speaker 1 00:09:42 Oh, you want to come? I got people to do all that shit up there. So we'll get you up there. I also told, um, Andy, Andy Austin? Yeah. I forget exactly what, oh what did I Speaker 2 00:09:50 Talk? He sleeps on my couch like three days a week. Oh really? Speaker 1 00:09:53 <laugh> Well I know, I know you guys are buddies and stuff, but when um, I told him that, uh, so I have family up in Maine. My dad's from uh, Portland, Maine. So we have a lot of family members and like people close to us that get the moose tags every year and like go out. I Speaker 2 00:10:09 Like to kill a moose. I killed an elk last year, dude. Speaker 1 00:10:12 That's, yeah. So those, those Speaker 2 00:10:13 Are two of my bucket list ones. Speaker 1 00:10:14 Andy said if I can get him on a moose hunt, he will get the in the round. Um, like the graphic or logo that we have right now, he'll get it branded on his right ass cheek. Speaker 2 00:10:23 I'll do the same. He Speaker 1 00:10:25 Said for a moose hunt is a moose hunt that hard to that hard to like commandeer and like Speaker 2 00:10:29 Go on. It's just expensive. Yeah. That's all it is. Like to go to Canada for moose hunt like I was, we'll go to Maine. I know, but but I was looking at like Canada, Alaska, like shit like that Montana, like where they're at and stuff. I wasn't looking at Maine much, but I was looking at outfitters like just to go up there for like a three day hunt. Like 15 grand didn't, none of that stuff's cheap. Yeah, no, not at all. Holy shit. Yeah. Speaker 1 00:10:53 Damn <laugh>. Speaker 2 00:10:54 And that's not including like most of those places also charge you per pound. Like if you take an elk or a moose, so like that's 15 grand to get your foot in the door and you're not guaranteed anything. And then if you kill something it's like out, they charge out x amount of money per pound and like, depending on its rack and all like it's X amount of money per like point. Yeah. So they don't play around. They make some good money up there. Yeah. They know how to do it. That's Speaker 1 00:11:21 Ridiculous. That's wild. I did not realize that. So it really costs you a lot. So it's a lot cheaper to just have a place to go and go out Turkey hunting and Oh yeah. Do that. Yeah. Okay. Yeah. But if I ever do get a chance for a moosa, if you get conviction open, I'll go send the two. We'll send the two of you guys together that that'd probably be a fucking, probably be a fucking time. Speaker 2 00:11:40 Have a trip. <laugh> sign me up for Speaker 1 00:11:43 That one too. Yeah. Oh dude. Yeah. I'm have to do an episode up of both of you guys now. How'd you meet Andy? Speaker 2 00:11:49 Um, I don't remember. I think I was at a birthday party for somebody and he just, the only other dude that was blabbering on about hunting, I was like, I like this guy. <laugh>. Speaker 1 00:12:06 Yeah. Yeah dude. So what, so how long ago was that? Cause I know you guys write a bit together and like Yeah. Speaker 2 00:12:13 Um, probably in like June, probably about a year ago. July last year or something. So Speaker 1 00:12:23 It's, it's recent still. You guys like working together and known each other cause Speaker 2 00:12:27 Yeah, I haven't known him really that long. Speaker 1 00:12:29 Yeah. But you guys at like the, Speaker 2 00:12:30 But we've became pretty good buddies. Well Speaker 1 00:12:32 I mean you guys are two of the country, country people that are, that are really in the scene right now. Like Speaker 2 00:12:37 Me, him and my buddy Cole are really the only ones that I know that hunt up People Speaker 1 00:12:42 Get it that that Speaker 2 00:12:42 Yeah. That do it because they just genuinely love it. Not for any other reason, you know? Yeah. Speaker 1 00:12:47 Like, like they're not just doing it do it. They're doing it. You're doing it because that's like, that's Speaker 2 00:12:51 What you just do's Speaker 1 00:12:52 What you do. If, if you have an op, if you have an opportunity to hunt every day and like be in different parts of the country and travel Speaker 2 00:12:57 And stuff. I'm trying to move out to Lebanon so I can hunt at my house. Yeah. Speaker 1 00:13:01 <laugh>. And then you really don't have to Speaker 2 00:13:03 Go anywhere or see anybody the I hate <laugh>. Speaker 1 00:13:06 Yeah. Yeah. So you're literal, so you're just chilling. So that's like your ideal situation right now. Oh yeah. Where do you, where do you live at now? Are you, are you like deep in town or are Speaker 2 00:13:14 You No, I'm, I'm still out like 30 minutes like in Hermitage area. Speaker 1 00:13:18 Okay. Speaker 2 00:13:19 Out by the lake. Which isn't too bad cuz it's right there. Yeah. Speaker 1 00:13:22 So that, that takes care of your fishing Speaker 2 00:13:24 I think on boat fishing a lot. Speaker 1 00:13:25 Bow fishing. Speaker 2 00:13:26 Yeah. At night. Yeah. I haven't seeing like Andy and all posting on Instagram and stuff about that. Yeah. They went one night and killed like 121 fish or something like that. Something outrageous. I didn't go that night. I had to work the next day. But, Speaker 1 00:13:37 And you guys take all those fish or is that They're Speaker 2 00:13:40 All like grass carp and buffalo carp and they want 'em, they're, it's an invasive species and we just kind of throw 'em away after. Really? They're like cogs of water. Speaker 1 00:13:48 Oh. So so the people want them out Speaker 2 00:13:50 The lake. You cant eat 'em. I mean if, if you, I guess you can eat anything technically, but I wouldn't eat Speaker 1 00:13:55 Them. Not, it ain't gonna be good <laugh>. Nah, Speaker 2 00:13:57 No. I wouldn't eat phony fish. Yeah, screw that. Fuck that. Yeah. Speaker 1 00:14:01 Yeah. So what's the biggest fish you've caught here in Tennessee? Cause I don't, Florida fish are just ginormous Speaker 2 00:14:06 In Tennessee. Probably, I don't know, like a six pound bass or something. Okay. Nothing outrageous. Yeah. I really haven't spent much time fishing. I mean I like, I love to fish but like we've been going boat fishing a lot cuz my buddy just got a new boat. But other than that, like yeah, probably just like a six pound bass or something. I have no idea. Speaker 1 00:14:26 Okay. <laugh>. Okay. No, my only reason for asking is I know fishing down in Florida is huge and you guys, oh, Speaker 2 00:14:32 Well it's a whole different world down Speaker 1 00:14:33 There though. Speaker 2 00:14:33 Yeah. Not yet. That's, you got the ocean and literally everything to your Speaker 1 00:14:37 Things. You being in the Everglades, how, how often will you like go to fish and you'll catch a fucking alligator? Speaker 2 00:14:43 Uh, I can't talk about this. Speaker 1 00:14:45 Oh, you, oh, okay, okay. My bad, my bad. This happened with Ryan and Andy too where I, I was like asked the question. They're like, we can't talk about this. So my bad, my bad Speaker 2 00:14:56 <laugh> my least favorite thing in the world though. I can, but I'm not. Speaker 1 00:14:59 Yeah, no, no, no, no, no. I got Speaker 2 00:15:00 You. My least favorite thing in the world is to catch like an alligator gar. Those are fun. I we speared 'em out on Yeah. Yeah. With where the, we're not spearing. We shot 'em, we go jugging a lot back where I'm from and we'll be like, you know, letting 'em float and I would say nine times outta 10 I'll go to pick up one that like, they're like, oh yeah, that's a dead one. Like, there's no fish. You'll pick it up and there's an alligator guard, like just chilling like two feet under the surface. You go to pick it up and all of a sudden it comes out at you. It's my least favorite feeling in life. Speaker 1 00:15:32 <laugh>. Speaker 2 00:15:34 Oh man. I've had an alligator do that to me before. Like just be chilling on line and like all of a sudden you pick it up and the alligator comes outta the water at you and you're like, fuck an alligator or alligator car? Both. I've had an alligator. It was like a little like, I don't know, four foot. It wasn't big. But don't let him batching in. Nah, Speaker 1 00:15:52 Not fun. You been, yeah. You've been bit by an alligator, Speaker 2 00:15:54 A tiny one. Not one that, like, Speaker 1 00:15:56 Not one that's gonna like get like chubs from uh, happy Gilmore. Like the loose. Yeah, no, Speaker 2 00:16:01 Nothing like that. Speaker 1 00:16:02 <laugh>. I love that when he gets in the head. Yeah. And then he, he has the heart attack and dies. Oh God. Oh trumps. But um, but yeah, so speaking of like, of wild times and wild things. So you, you moved to Nashville. What, what was, do you remember which night was like your first night going out and being like, holy shit, I'm in Nashville, but also a night that got a little crazy that you may or may not remember like a night out on Broadway or like when you first get here and you just go 110%? Speaker 2 00:16:31 Um, I would say cuz I turned 21 right after I moved here. Oh Speaker 1 00:16:37 Shit. Speaker 2 00:16:38 And I remember we went out, Ryan was actually with us. We got, there was a bunch of people with us and we got, we were at Losers or something and we got an Uber cuz we were going downtown and I don't really remember this a lot, but there was no more room in the Uber. And uh, the guy was like, not letting any bo like, he wouldn't let people double up or anything. So I walked around back opened the trunk, Ryan hopped in, I closed it and he's like, who, who was in the trunk? I was like, I, no, I was just checking to see what's back there. And uh, then we rode to the bar. I hopped out really quick and then let him out. <laugh>. And then we rolled into some bar, I forget. And I just remember puking in the bathroom. That's, that's all I remember. <laugh>. Speaker 1 00:17:26 Oh shit, man. Yes. Speaker 2 00:17:27 And New Year's I played, it was 2000. This wasn't right when I moved, but I played, um, whiskey Jam on New Year's Day. Speaker 1 00:17:39 Oh Speaker 2 00:17:39 Fuck. And I got alcohol poisoning the night before. Ooh. And it was a rough recovery. I've never done that. Not going back. It was a rough recovery to be able to even play the show. I couldn't have get off the couch to like an hour before Speaker 1 00:17:54 <laugh>. Yeah. And then that Whiskey jam and that, that's uh, that New Year's Day. That Speaker 2 00:17:57 Was the first time I ever played Whiskey Jam. Yeah. Speaker 1 00:17:59 Oh, that was your first Whiskey jam. And I'm sure the crowd was actually like, pretty damn good because everybody's coming back into town, right? Speaker 2 00:18:06 Or it was, I mean it was New Year's Day, so Yeah. Speaker 1 00:18:09 So do you have a lot of people? Was it busy? It Speaker 2 00:18:10 It wasn't insane. I mean it was like six degrees outside, so Oh Speaker 1 00:18:15 Fuck Yeah. Speaker 2 00:18:16 <laugh>. I think everybody was kind of getting outta Nashville at that point. Speaker 1 00:18:19 Yeah. But was this, was this uh, how long ago was that? How Speaker 2 00:18:23 Many years ago? Two years ago. Two years ago. Something Speaker 1 00:18:25 Like that. So you've been playing Whiskey Jam quite a bit then? Speaker 2 00:18:27 I've only played it twice so far. Played it twice. Well I played it, I played for Ryan the very first time he played Whiskey Jam. I played bass. Speaker 1 00:18:35 You played? Oh shit. Speaker 2 00:18:37 Ryan taught me how to play bass like the day before. He is like, Hey, just do this. I was like, all I gotta Speaker 1 00:18:44 Shit. And, and Ryan Nelson now is like one of the guys that, like when you think of Whiskey Jam, he just puts on a rowdy fucking Speaker 2 00:18:51 Oh yeah. He puts on a great show. Like Speaker 1 00:18:52 He, he, whenever I see Ryan Nelson's on the bill, I make an extra effort. I always try to go award. I tell you this, I'm not always there, but I try to get there as much, as much as we can. Me and Tyler both are like podcast stuff, but like when I see Ryan Nelson on there, or like you or someone, like it's, I'm close, but especially Ryan cuz he's just fucking, Speaker 2 00:19:09 If it's on a hell of the show, Speaker 1 00:19:10 I make an extra effort to try to get there. Yeah. For, for, for a Ryan Nelson show. That was actually the first whiskey jam I went to. It was when I came to visit right before I moved in September. And uh, Ryan, it was Ryan was, um, headlining it or he was like the main guy and it was the day that Show Up Drunk came out. Speaker 2 00:19:26 Oh nice. Speaker 1 00:19:27 So it was fucking Speaker 2 00:19:28 That's been about a year. Speaker 1 00:19:30 Wild. Yeah, that was, yeah, it was like right around September. Right. Speaker 2 00:19:34 I remember it almost. Yeah. Everything's blurred to me. Yeah. Speaker 1 00:19:36 I've almost been here a year, which is fucking nuts. Time fucking flies here. Speaker 2 00:19:40 The uh, 23rd of this month is my six years. Speaker 1 00:19:43 Jesus. Speaker 2 00:19:44 Yeah. Dang. I've been here about three. A little over three. Yeah. Speaker 1 00:19:48 Yeah. So have you seen the city change quite a bit? Speaker 2 00:19:50 Oh yeah. It's grown insane Speaker 1 00:19:53 On all sides too. It's not just downtown. Like Midtown looks completely different now too. Speaker 2 00:19:57 Yeah. Nothing's the same. It's turned into LA I hate it. Were you, uh, were you here when like Soul Sign PTO was still Midtown? Yeah. Dude. Yeah. Yeah. I That place was cool. That place was the best. Yeah. They had really good people. They shut it down because of Anno Noisey ordinance. Yeah. Yeah. The people in Music City. Right. The people move out. Exactly. With all the freaking New Yorkers moving in that high rise. Speaker 1 00:20:21 Hey, hey, Speaker 2 00:20:22 Hey, hey. Come on. Hey, we got the, Hey, you know what, I'll Speaker 1 00:20:25 Say this. Hey, hey. We are, we are the city that never sleeps. You can go, you walk into Times Square. You think it's still daytime? Yeah. Speaker 2 00:20:30 Yeah. I know I've been there, but like I've never been to New York City. I Speaker 1 00:20:33 Don't know. I don't think you'd like it. I wouldn't recommend it. Probably wouldn't. Speaker 2 00:20:36 Yeah. Speaker 1 00:20:36 I'd think I want to get Dakota, uh, I want to get Dakota Bear on a Subway in New York City. I would like Speaker 2 00:20:42 From here show, I would like to play a show there. But other than that, like Speaker 1 00:20:44 You'd play a show and just get out and just see like, probably like the statue. Like, like certain things. Speaker 2 00:20:50 Yeah. I mean it's, it's gotta be cool to see some stuff. But I couldn't handle like Speaker 1 00:20:55 8.5 million people on a 13 mile island. Speaker 2 00:20:58 See I would go nuts. Yeah. I would literally go and sing. Like, I'm Speaker 1 00:21:01 Not actually from the, I'm from New York State, but I'm like 30 minutes outside the city. So with no traffic it would take me like 30 minutes. It always took me like two hours because it's New York traffic. There's, I gotta cross like three bridges just to get in there. Pay $30 in tolls just to get into the fucking city. Speaker 2 00:21:17 Yeah. Not my cup of tea. Yeah. Speaker 1 00:21:20 If you've been up north for, what's the, what's the most north you've ever been? Speaker 2 00:21:23 I mean technically, Speaker 1 00:21:26 I dunno. Or like Northeast, cuz I'm sure Hunting Northeast. I'm sure like Hunting's taking you to fucking North Dakota in Speaker 2 00:21:31 Wyoming. I went to Washington DC and when I was like, like sixth grade. Okay. I hated it. Speaker 1 00:21:36 <laugh> DC Speaker 2 00:21:38 Is like a sleazy Speaker 1 00:21:39 City. They mean DC is a fucked up. That's why remember the basketball team was called The Bullets and then they had to change the name to the Wizards because there were so many shootings. Yeah. And like gangs were wearing their jerseys. So the bullets like brand and logo was being associated. The Bullets gang. Yeah. It was being associated with gang violence going outta DC in the nineties, which is why they became the Wizards. I mean Speaker 2 00:21:57 The one time I was in DC like we missed a turn and had to go all the way around the city and it took fucking three hours. That was, we came back from New Jersey, we were like up there and uh, it took 21 hours to get home from like South Jersey. Speaker 1 00:22:12 That's ridiculous. I, that's crazy. So road life for you now. I have you been, have you been out like playing a lot of shows like around the country or is this, this is, or is this like a new thing for you? Speaker 2 00:22:22 This is a brand new thing for me. I, uh, we got together in March or I guess before March and planned on going to Texas for the whole month. And then we did it and we got back and we're like, well let's go again. Went in July and then now we're going back in September. Speaker 1 00:22:40 What is it about Texas that like, that's the place you want to go? Like you don't want to go to like, like another area that's got a bunch of cities or is it because it's Texas? Speaker 2 00:22:50 Well, I mean it just, Texas has really its own scene in a way. It's own music scene. Everybody out there is really into music and whatnot and they appreciate like real songwriting and stuff and not to like talk smack, but a lot of this stuff coming outta Nashville is pretty shitty. Speaker 1 00:23:04 So would you go off, so would you say you're more of a red dirt guy? Oh yeah, for sure. In terms your styles Speaker 2 00:23:09 For sure. Speaker 1 00:23:10 So for like, cuz it's, cuz that's what's what I've found too from, again, being in radio up in New York, all I'm getting fed is what record labels are are feeding me. Uh, with what I was playing on the air and stuff, which was the pop stuff outta Nashville. But meanwhile you've got guys like Kojo, like people are like, oh, this Cody Johnson guy. They're starting to pick up on him. But he's been doing his thing for fucking years. Speaker 2 00:23:31 Yeah. He's been doing it for a while, for Speaker 1 00:23:32 Years. And he made a fucking huge name for himself and built a huge follow. Just Speaker 2 00:23:36 Protect this guy. Yeah. There's a huge, there's a huge scene out there for music. I mean we play, the most we played was like, I think 17 dates in a month. And that's different towns pretty much every single night. And we're not, I mean we're driving. I mean Texas is huge. It's, Speaker 1 00:23:57 You go forever. It was very close to me Speaker 2 00:23:59 Like its own country. Yeah dude. Speaker 1 00:24:00 It was very close to being its own country like way back. But dude, like that's fucking crazy. What's the Texas crowd like? Speaker 2 00:24:07 They really appreciate music. They um, like what I've noticed is people in the crowd like are actually listening to what you're saying when you're playing these songs and not just like, oh it's music in the background or whatever. They're like really paying attention and everything. And so it's pretty cool. Especially coming from someone who loves to write songs and whatnot. Yeah. Speaker 1 00:24:27 Yeah. Speaker 2 00:24:27 That's like something I've been like noticing around like the southeast, like you'll go to these like, especially like the bar gigs, like whenever you're playing like a bar stuff and like the people there are like just talking to each other and then you're just like trying to like I'm a sound guy. So like you're just trying to pump the volume over their volume. Yeah. And then all of a sudden somebody's like, it's loud. And I'm like, yeah, well if y'all shut up for five minutes, like it wouldn't be this loud Speaker 1 00:24:51 But that, but that's an environment in like in Texas or they're sitting back and listening. Do you ever get people like complimenting certain lyrics? Speaker 2 00:25:00 I mean I've had people come up and just say like, man, I love that song, whatnot. But not necessarily specific lyrics or anything. Okay, Speaker 1 00:25:08 Okay. Cause that's why like, cuz I know like writers rounds and stuff here, it's a lot of, lot of songwriters in the crowd at the, at writers rounds, like the listening room or revival or different things like that where like they'll, they'll get like that. So I wasn't sure how in depth people of Texas are. So have you been there? Oh yeah. Have you been to uh, Austin? Speaker 2 00:25:25 Yeah, we actually played there this past time. That was the first time I've ever been there. Is Speaker 1 00:25:29 It, how is it cool out there? Is it a cool, cool scene? I hear Austin is like the music city of Texas. We Speaker 2 00:25:34 Didn't really have much time to hang out. We had, we got there and we had to play and then we had to roll out pretty much right after. But oh shit. I mean I had, I had fun. Yeah. Speaker 1 00:25:42 Oh yeah. No, I'm sure you did. So do you have, so you said you have more Texas dates coming up? Speaker 2 00:25:46 Yeah. In September. Yeah. We'll be there down there for the whole month. Damn. None of 'em gonna try to line up a deer hunt after. Cuz be season comes in and you can, on the last Speaker 1 00:25:55 Weekend you can hunt there. So is there, this might be a tough, out of the, out of the blue question. Do you ever, did you ever think about moving to Texas and doing Speaker 2 00:26:04 The regular? I think about it every day. Speaker 1 00:26:06 So is that, is that somewhere you can see yourself? Speaker 2 00:26:08 Oh yeah, for sure. I would probably, I mean, I want to get, I'm doing an EP right now with, uh, Grady and whatnot and so I want to get that out and see if that, see where that goes. Uh, and just let that live for a little bit. And then I want to, I mean I've been wanting to ride a lot more and whatnot recently. I've been, I go through waves. I I ride a bunch and then I don't, then I ride a bunch, then I don't. And uh, and but really I've been think I've been thinking about it a lot cuz I don't know, I just see a lot of fake shit in Nashville. Yeah. That I get tired of. And I could live out there on a ranch and just kill shit and play music. Speaker 1 00:26:49 <laugh> that, that might be a Texas bumper sticker that needs to come into existence. Come to Texas, you can kill shit And uh, play music. And play music. That's, that's a cool, that's a cool vibe out there. I've never been to life. I've never Have you been to Texas? Tyler? Speaker 2 00:27:03 I've yet to go. Well I really Speaker 1 00:27:05 I thought you would've been before. Speaker 2 00:27:06 No, I went as like a kid, like a young kid, but not that I remember at all. Speaker 1 00:27:12 Yeah. I've never been to Texas. Speaker 2 00:27:13 So I've got family out there. I got family in, uh, Brownville, Brownwood, whatever it is. Like basically like the geographical like dead center. Okay. Of Texas. Texas, okay. Speaker 1 00:27:24 Yeah. Yeah. Cause I'm excited to go to Texas cause I've never been there Speaker 2 00:27:27 Today. It's a pretty cool place. You need to go to Bucky's. Yeah, yeah. Speaker 1 00:27:31 Yeah. Where's Bucky's? Speaker 2 00:27:32 Bucky's is all over. Speaker 1 00:27:33 What is it? It's Speaker 2 00:27:34 A, it's a big like rest stop with a beaver. And they got great bathrooms. Yeah, great bathrooms. And they got brisket sandwiches. Speaker 1 00:27:42 They good. Oh, Speaker 2 00:27:43 This last, oh they're great. This last, uh, last weekend we got to introduce him to uh, fried bologna sandwiches. You've never had a fried bologna sandwich? No, I've Speaker 1 00:27:51 Had 'em, but, but no, no. This was a smoked Smoked, Speaker 2 00:27:54 Sorry. Smoked bologna. Speaker 1 00:27:55 Smoked bologna sandwich. What was actually smoked Speaker 2 00:27:57 Bologna's good. What Speaker 1 00:27:58 Truck stop was that? It was Speaker 2 00:27:59 The, the Tennesseean. It's like exit 22 on 65 south Speaker 1 00:28:06 Going down towards Bama. So it was just a bumble fuck cuz the bfe freaking, um, truck stop and Speaker 2 00:28:12 It's like the only truck stop between walked down with Franklin and Huntsville. Speaker 1 00:28:17 Yeah. You people. So yeah, people are walking out with fucking like briskets like again. Yeah, like the brisket sandwiches or like barbecues. Speaker 2 00:28:23 There's nowhere near near Bucky's level though. Bucky's Bucky's is like walking into They sell sell. Is it like a wa sell? Is it like Speaker 1 00:28:28 Sell, is it like a Wawa? Speaker 2 00:28:30 A Wawa that has like been lifting on steroids for like 20 years? Sell. Do Speaker 1 00:28:34 You know what Wawa is? Being a Florida guy? Speaker 2 00:28:36 I've heard of it. I don't know. I've Speaker 1 00:28:37 Never been. Cause they're in Florida now. They're based, it's based up in Jersey, in New York or Jersey. And uh, does that Speaker 2 00:28:42 Have like the little birds on it? Speaker 1 00:28:44 It's got the bird logo. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, Speaker 2 00:28:46 Yeah. I've Speaker 1 00:28:47 Seen that. Dude. It is like, that's our, like, so Speaker 2 00:28:49 There's Buckys now there's actually a Buckeys now down in uh, Daphne, Alabama, like near like Orange Beach, Gulf Hills area. And uh, we drove by coming back from the Orange Beach show and it is literally like you're pulling into a Walmart gas station. Speaker 1 00:29:06 Damn. It's a big place. Speaker 2 00:29:07 Yeah. Yeah. Like it looks like you're about to like go shopping at Kroger. Speaker 1 00:29:10 Geez. But but it's a truck stop. But Speaker 2 00:29:12 It's a truck Speaker 1 00:29:13 Stop. Damn. That's crazy's. I gotta get Speaker 2 00:29:15 You a Whataburger too. You still haven't had Whataburger. That's, you need to go to Taco Cabana too. Taco Cabanas one. I'll have to try Speaker 1 00:29:21 <laugh>. Damn. That sounds, that sounds good. Speaker 2 00:29:24 They're open 24 hours. They said brisket tacos. Oh, I should be a spokesman for him. <laugh>. Speaker 1 00:29:29 Really? Oh shit. Yeah. Speaker 2 00:29:31 I looked at my bank statement when we were in Texas and it just was like Taco Cabana, taco Cabana, Whataburger, taco Cabana, taco Cabana Speaker 1 00:29:39 Road life. What was doing road life for you, like for you guys? So what was the situation on the road? Were you guys like pulling over and like hoteling it or like mo moteling it or what? Speaker 2 00:29:49 You know, you know Jordan Fletcher? Yes. Yeah. So he had that camper right? That, and that was in the back of his truck. And I traded him six packs of elk meat for the camper and then the, like the roof was rotted off and everything and whatnot. So we had to rebuild that. And then we threw it in the back of my truck and went to Texas and just lived outta that, Speaker 1 00:30:10 That, that whole thing just needs to have, you might be a redneck if in front of it because that is, I don't think I've ever heard of, so I traded my buddy six, six pack, what is it? Six packs. Speaker 2 00:30:21 It was like six packs of elk meat or six I six. Don't forget exactly what I gave him. Speaker 1 00:30:25 6, 6, 6 of elk meat for his, for his camper that was missing a roof that Speaker 2 00:30:28 It wasn't, it had a roof. It Speaker 1 00:30:30 Just was rot. Speaker 2 00:30:30 Now was bad. Speaker 1 00:30:31 So you guys take the camper out with you? Speaker 2 00:30:33 Yeah, we throw it in the back of my truck and go <laugh>, <laugh>. How many guys live on the road? Two. Okay. Or no, it's just, well it just me and my buddy Jeremy. Nice. So, uh, we just, there's three bunks in it. I have a big bunk up top and everything. We have a, we have an AC unit that as long as as I have a 50 foot extension cord. Then we put like a little one of those power surge things in there. Yeah. We plug up coffee maker a bunch of stuff. Speaker 1 00:31:01 Phone charger. Yeah. Speaker 2 00:31:02 Everything span. He has a third bunk. Speaker 1 00:31:05 Dude, we got it. <laugh>. Speaker 2 00:31:07 Y'all wanna come? Let's go. Speaker 1 00:31:08 Dude. I That would be, that'd wild. All we'd, we'd have a good time out there for sure. That sounds like a better, I I kind of like that situation now. Having gone out for it's nice week, weekend week weekend in a sprinter. I kind of like that idea of the camper. Speaker 2 00:31:22 It's pretty nice. Not honestly. Yeah. And it's like, I mean it's comfortable. Like I get a great night's sleep every night. Speaker 1 00:31:28 Where's the, where's the sketchiest place you've had to pull over and Speaker 2 00:31:31 For like we slept in a Walmart parking lot one time. Um, Speaker 1 00:31:35 Was it like a decent town? Like a, Speaker 2 00:31:37 I mean it was pretty rough Speaker 1 00:31:38 But it was pretty rough. Oh shit. Speaker 2 00:31:40 We stay in this, we stay in this one bay at this place in this town called Cleburne. We play and uh, this pastime, we were sitting there sleeping and it says no parking there, but they aren't open on Saturdays. So we're like, screw it, it's a bay. Like it keeps us out of the weather and everything. We could plug up our AC right there. And um, this dude comes in rolling in there at like six in the morning and we got done playing at like three 30. So like we're, by the time we get to bed, it's late. And um, <laugh> we're sitting there and it's like 6:00 AM we're both asleep and this guy comes knocking on the camper windows and everything. He's like, you guys gotta get outta here. You guys gotta get outta here. And uh, so he opens up the garage door, the, the shop door right there. And I'm, I'm like half asleep. I hop outta the camper and I'm like, what's happening? He's like, you guys gotta leave. Like it says no parking in here. I was like, well they told us to park here. Like sorry, like we'll move, chill out. And uh, I moved the truck right and put the camper roof down, moved the truck over to the random parking lot and put the camper roof back up. I watched this guy close the shop and hopping his truck and roll out asshole. I wanted to punch him in the face <laugh>. Speaker 2 00:33:02 So he literally woke up just to come wake y'all up. Yep. And appear like he was having a work day. Yep. <laugh>. That is an asshole. Move small town USA man. Speaker 1 00:33:14 You next time we're in what town? Speaker 2 00:33:17 Cleburne. Speaker 1 00:33:17 Next time we're in Cleburne, uh, Texas. You'll, you'll, you'll <laugh>. You have to wait out there for him. Speaker 2 00:33:24 <laugh>, just wait up all night. Yeah. Speaker 1 00:33:26 Oh man. Speaker 2 00:33:27 We'll, we'll we'll have some spray paint ready, you know, <laugh>. Speaker 1 00:33:30 Oh, that'll be the least. That'll be the least of these Speaker 2 00:33:32 Days. But it was, it was just funny. I was like, yeah, really man, <laugh> Speaker 1 00:33:37 You gotta just get up this early to come and break our balls. Yeah. Yeah. So, so how long does it take you to get out like to the Texas border from Tennessee? Speaker 2 00:33:46 It's only like 10 hours. Yeah. Nine hours. Okay. Speaker 1 00:33:48 So that's not, that's Speaker 2 00:33:49 Not bad. No, Speaker 1 00:33:50 That's not bad. So have you gone out like, as far as like really like West Texas? Speaker 2 00:33:55 No, I want to go, I wanna go play some shows out there, but there's just not much out there. I mean, yeah, it's still kind of like, there's a town called like Marfa but in, you know, uh, Midland and all that, but there's just not really a lot out there. Oh. Speaker 1 00:34:09 It's just a lot. Oh, so that's all the oil guys. Okay. Speaker 2 00:34:12 Yeah, I did a uh, an adventure camp one summer out there. Like I was like a counselor out there and like seriously they were like, hey, hope you don't get bit by a snake. Cause it's like 45 minutes to the nearest town. Oof. Like good luck. Oof. Speaker 1 00:34:27 Yeah. Fuck that. Speaker 2 00:34:28 There's a lot of snakes out there. Oh yeah. They're like, so Speaker 1 00:34:31 There's some areas of Texas that are really like not populated like middle of Speaker 2 00:34:35 Towns. Oh yeah. There's nothing out there. We were just laying, do you remember the movie Johnson Boys? Yeah, we were. That was the nearest town. Junction Johnson was our nearest town. Fuck yeah. And it was the summer and I wanted to kill myself cuz it was like 140 all summer. Damn Speaker 1 00:34:52 God. Yeah man, that Speaker 2 00:34:53 Was, yeah, it gets hot. Yeah. Yeah dude. And like we had to be outside like on trails and shit, like hiking, like it was cool cause like there's a river that runs to the camp and like the east side of the river is all desert. The west side's all mountains. So like, you had like the bo best of both worlds, but like, you know, you were hiking up mountains and shit and it's like, yo, these kids are gonna start dropping like flies <laugh>. Yeah. Like hope they brought a camel back. <laugh>. Speaker 1 00:35:20 Yeah. Dude, that, that just sounds, that just sounds fucked. So a songwriting and stuff. So you said you, you've been writing songs for, for a minute now, right? Right. For a little Speaker 2 00:35:29 While. Yeah. Quite a while. I wrote, I started writing at like 15. Speaker 1 00:35:32 So what made, what made you wanna wanna start doing the writing thing? Speaker 2 00:35:35 I just did it. Speaker 1 00:35:36 You just did it. Speaker 2 00:35:37 It was like, I picked up a guitar about like a year before that and one night I was just at my house and I just wrote a song and then I would write another one. It was just something to do. I got tired of learning other people's songs eventually. So I guess I just started writing myself. Speaker 1 00:35:55 That's cool. Now, who are some people that you look up to as a writer? Or like some people where you're like, their shit's really, really dope. Like really, really cool. Speaker 2 00:36:03 I'm a big fan of like, I dunno if you've ever heard of like Ryan Bingham or any event. Oh yeah. Speaker 1 00:36:08 Oh Speaker 2 00:36:08 Yeah, yeah. Big Ryan Bingham fan. Uh, I've listened to a lot of towns. Band Z recently. Speaker 1 00:36:13 No shit. Speaker 2 00:36:14 He's, he's got some some real good stuff. Yeah. Um, I'm trying to think of who else. I like Speaker 1 00:36:20 That's very fitting that you like the Texas like that. Like you want to go out to that frontier. Cause that's, that, that's how he grew up was like in that frontier scene, right? Oh yeah. Like, Speaker 2 00:36:27 He was like Speaker 1 00:36:28 Outlawed just Speaker 2 00:36:29 Who Speaker 1 00:36:30 Towns Van San, right? Speaker 2 00:36:31 Oh yeah, he, he eventually moved here to Smyrna. Really? Mm-hmm. <affirmative>. Speaker 1 00:36:37 Wow. I didn't realize he lived here. Yeah, he Speaker 2 00:36:38 Died here. Speaker 1 00:36:39 No shit. Mm-hmm. <affirmative>. Wow. I didn't know he died in Smyrna. Fuck. That's pretty dope. That's Speaker 2 00:36:44 An next exit down from Speaker 1 00:36:45 Us. Yeah, that is, that's right here near this. Literally. But, but dude, that, that's, so Speaker 2 00:36:49 I'm pretty sure he did. Don't quote me on that. Speaker 1 00:36:52 <laugh>. Okay. But um, but that's, Speaker 2 00:36:54 There's probably gonna be someone who's like, oh, you done Laverne. Not smart. All right. Sorry dude. Speaker 1 00:37:01 No, no, no, no, no. Speaker 2 00:37:02 You're good. Everyone takes everything so literal. Yeah Speaker 1 00:37:04 Dude, I fucking hate that. But um, but yeah, you talk about like you're out playing that playing in Texas and stuff and talking about the Texas pieces. It was Smyrna. It was Smyrna January. Speaker 2 00:37:14 Uh, yeah, January 1st, 1997. Speaker 1 00:37:17 Oh shit. So 22 years ago. Fuck. Wow. Wow. But yeah. So who are, who are some guys and girls that are like in your circle of people that you write with here in town? Speaker 2 00:37:27 Uh, I write with my buddy Jeremy a lot. He's on tour with me and a guy named Benny James. Okay. He's from Michigan, I think Minnesota. One of those M ones. Um, Ben Chapman. I don't know if you of them. Nate. Okay. Frederick all them boys. Ryan. Yeah. A lot. Jordan Fletcher still and whatnot. We, that was actually my first Right. Ever when I moved to town was me, Ryan and Jordan. Speaker 1 00:37:53 Yeah. You guys were all Florida guys. Yeah. And Ryan had told us the story, kind of like a little bit of a backstory, but I guess you had known somebody that Speaker 2 00:38:01 Yeah, we had a mutual friend in Florida who linked us up. Yeah. And uh, when I moved up here, we got together and Ryan, I went over to Ryan's house and he's like, dude, do you smoke weed? And I was like, yeah dude. And we just became friends ever since <laugh>, it was great. Speaker 1 00:38:18 That is the most, that is like stereotypical Florida guys reuniting, just chilling. Like, and, and you guys have like a cool vibe cause what you guys are, are doing, like your styles are so opposite of like what the mainstream is doing. Like you guys are doing your style of shit. Speaker 2 00:38:36 Oh yeah. I mean, which Speaker 1 00:38:36 Is what's really cool about, Speaker 2 00:38:38 That's what you gotta do Speaker 1 00:38:38 To being buddies and stuff. Like you have that other guy that's in that kinda like, creative space. Like I want to just make the dopest product that I can make kind of thing. Speaker 2 00:38:46 Yeah. It has nothing to do with chasing any, kinda any kinda Speaker 1 00:38:49 Formula numbers. Exactly. Speaker 2 00:38:51 Yeah. Just making music. Yeah. Whatever that is to you. Speaker 1 00:38:55 Yeah. Speaker 2 00:38:55 Dude is doing Speaker 1 00:38:56 That thing. And um, you got one that I, I've jammed a lot of jammed through it a lot when it, um, when it first come out. Um, passing through. Speaker 2 00:39:03 Yeah. That's my current single. Yeah. Dude, Speaker 1 00:39:05 What went into that one? Speaker 2 00:39:06 What do you mean? Speaker 1 00:39:07 Like what went into that song? Like passed it through Speaker 2 00:39:09 Everything It'ss the name of our tour. Speaker 1 00:39:12 Well, no, well I'm saying, well I'm saying like, no, I'm saying like the idea for the song. Just like when you guys sat down to you Speaker 2 00:39:18 Just, it just happened. Just came out. Nothing. No. Oh, I have a cool hook idea or just something, just started writing a song. No, and then that can't happen. <laugh>. Speaker 1 00:39:32 I didn't realize that. So, so sometimes it just happens like that or you Speaker 2 00:39:34 Just Oh yeah. All the time for me at least Speaker 1 00:39:36 Where you just sit down and just shit. Speaker 2 00:39:38 I just kind of like, I wrote that with my buddy Jeremy, who's we're on the passing through tour together. Speaker 1 00:39:43 So, which makes Speaker 2 00:39:43 Sense. Yeah. And, uh, and but that, I mean that's a, a big way that I write is just like, I just, whatever comes out and if it sounds cool, go run with it. You know? I don't really think of a lot of like insane hooks or anything like that. I just kind of, whatever happens, happens. If it is a cool song, it's a cool song. If it's not, throw it away. Write another one one day. Go fishing that afternoon. Speaker 1 00:40:09 Damn. That's a good, that's an interesting way to look at it. Shit. <laugh>. That's awesome. That's cool. So as far as right now, do you have a plan for like, when new music would be coming out? Speaker 2 00:40:19 I'm working on a bunch of stuff right now with, uh, Grady like I was saying earlier. And hopefully I'll have another single out sometime in September I wanna say. And then I don't know when I'm gonna release the rest of the project. Probably sometime in the fall. Speaker 1 00:40:36 All right. Do you got a, do you got an idea of what that, what that next single is? Speaker 2 00:40:40 Oh, I know exactly what it is. Speaker 1 00:40:42 What, what's it would you be able to tell us? You'll Speaker 2 00:40:44 Find out when he comes out. Oh Speaker 1 00:40:45 Fine. Look at that. See you'll find out when he comes. He's all strategy. He's all about business. I like that. A great hang, chill, chilling. And then, but you're all about business. That's cool. I thought I'd be able to get it outta you. Nah, Speaker 2 00:40:55 <laugh> not yet. Speaker 1 00:40:56 Nice. You, you have, who'd you write it with though? Speaker 2 00:40:58 I read that one with Jeremy as well. Oh, nice. Yeah, we, we've written a bunch of songs together, A lot of stuff that I'd wanna, I love the sound of it and it's just different than anything that I've been writing with anybody else really. Speaker 1 00:41:10 That's cool man. That's dope. Well we always, uh, wrap this thing up with, um, with having our guests play a little, play a little Diddy play something for us. What do you wanna play for us today? Cuz I know you write a lot of music. Speaker 2 00:41:22 I will. I'm gonna play a song called Somewhere I Can See The Stars. Speaker 1 00:41:27 Okay. What went into that one? Speaker 2 00:41:29 It's about living in Nashville and hating it. <laugh>. Speaker 1 00:41:32 Oh shit. Okay. Yeah, so some, some honesty right there from Chad Vish. I, good. Fuck. I'm excited to hear that one. Yeah, Speaker 2 00:41:38 It's pretty cool. I uh, I'm a big fan of it as well. Speaker 1 00:41:40 How long ago did you write that one? So it was right before then Speaker 1 00:41:51 You became a snowbird? Speaker 2 00:41:53 Well I had to work, I had like $3 in bank account. Speaker 1 00:41:55 Oh, okay. Yeah.
