Speaker 1 00:00:12 What is up everybody? Welcome back to the In the Round podcast. You got Matt and Tyler here hanging out up and we've got two of our favorite friends. I've had good nights out with both of these girls and we have had, uh, we've had nights that have ended in cookout. We've had nights that have ended at Red Door and they are two of my favorite up and coming songwriters here in Nashville. Seriously with They played our writers round before. We have got Miss Joy Beth Taylor and Hunter Girl with us. What's up? How are y'all doing? Speaker 2 00:00:38 I'm good. Almost alive. Almost lot Speaker 1 00:00:41 <laugh>. I'm glad y'all made it cuz one, it sounds like you guys had a good time last night. We'll talk about that in a minute. But also, is it the weather outside? It's freaking crazy outside. Speaker 3 00:00:49 Oh my, A pond out in front of your house. Speaker 1 00:00:50 Yeah. We have a pond like our, that cul-de-sac outside of our house. It's like a, I'm, I'm, I'm ready to get out there with, uh, my bathing shield. You can go swimming out there. It's freaking Speaker 3 00:00:59 Crazy. You can, uh, hook a rope up to the back of your car and I'll drive around and do donuts and, oh, there we go. Swing around. Oh Speaker 1 00:01:05 Dude, that might be be a good video. That would be's close Speaker 2 00:01:08 My car so we can go do that. There we go. No, I think I brought my floating. So Speaker 1 00:01:11 Yeah, we got and we definitely have a mud pit out in our backyard for sure. Oh gosh. Crazy. Which I know you two so you two are lot. Y'all are country, which I love. Like y'all are Southern like me. You No Hunter. No, of course not. We not. But um, so Speaker 2 00:01:26 Jamie has two first names. Joy Beth <laugh>. Speaker 1 00:01:29 So where are you both from? Alabama, Speaker 2 00:01:31 Tennessee. What Speaker 3 00:01:32 Part of Alabama? Uh, Pelham. Okay, cool. I'm from, I'm originally from Atlanta, but I grew up most of my life in like Attmore. Okay. I think Speaker 1 00:01:39 We talked about Speaker 3 00:01:40 That. Yeah. Yeah. South part of the state. Speaker 1 00:01:41 Yeah. And Alabama's awesome in east Tennessee. Yes. Is one of my favorite places. I have family out near Johnson City. I don't like the Jonesboro area. Yeah. So I'm big on like pals and Bojangles on if you ever had pals. But have you ever had pals before? Speaker 2 00:01:53 I've not had pals. Speaker 1 00:01:54 Pals is awesome. It is a pal's sudden service. It is like they only have, there's only four of 'em and it's only like the Tri-Cities. But you're not an Speaker 2 00:02:02 Embarrassing secret. I worked at Bojangles in high school. Speaker 1 00:02:04 That is awesome. Speaker 2 00:02:06 I can totally see that. Speaker 1 00:02:07 Oh, I see. I like boj. And again, those are foods that I didn't have growing up in New York. I Speaker 2 00:02:11 Worked there for like a month. <laugh>. What? Speaker 1 00:02:13 Let's fine. What was No, I quit. Speaker 2 00:02:15 Do you quit? You couldn't take it. I couldn't take it. You couldn't take the jangles. <laugh> Speaker 1 00:02:20 Berry Bis Berry Biscuits are like Speaker 2 00:02:23 I to make those. Really? Speaker 1 00:02:24 Oh yeah. How much would it cost? Golden biscuit though. How much would it cost for us to get you to make those? Speaker 2 00:02:30 I mean, I don't, you do not. I don't want her to make anything. I can't go Speaker 1 00:02:33 All can't Speaker 2 00:02:33 Cook. It's so bad. Oh my gosh. We had like a family dinner kind of thing with some friends supposed be secrets. I don't care. This is awful. This is sad. And so like, we had a full spread and I was like, oh, this is gonna be great. And then JB comes in with some cornbread mix and then didn't have any milk. Okay. Lisa was running late that day. I didn't have whatever. I was running late too. And you, you put half and half in it and it was got milk and it was the dust. Speaker 3 00:02:56 Hey. I would say I have made in a, uh, desperate. You do what you gotta do. Desperate manner have made hamburger helper with half and half and then realized it was a year and a half expired. Oh Speaker 2 00:03:08 Gosh. See? Speaker 3 00:03:10 But it wasn't my house, so like, it wasn't mine. It Speaker 1 00:03:12 Just desperate times. Called for desperate measures. And you Speaker 2 00:03:15 Happened. Definitely desperate. But the worst Speaker 4 00:03:17 Part, we have enough cornbread mix to fill up the, like Pan. Pan. Nope. So we had to drive to Kroger to get, and then we finally got milk. So it was milk half and half and then two different cornbread mixes. Speaker 2 00:03:27 It was scary. Speaker 4 00:03:28 No one ate it. <laugh>. That sounds great. Speaker 2 00:03:30 <laugh>. Oh, I don't know why we were all looking forward to it. <laugh>. Now I Speaker 4 00:03:35 Make it every time we have family dinner now. Speaker 1 00:03:36 I know. Make it every time. That's that's great. Speaker 4 00:03:39 Exact recipe. Yeah. Speaker 1 00:03:40 So how, so how did you two, how did you two get connected? How'd you all meet? Speaker 2 00:03:43 Oh, we played in Round Together First. Speaker 4 00:03:45 Yeah. And then we didn't, Speaker 2 00:03:47 We didn't talk to each other for a while because I was like, oh, I hate her. No, I didn't <laugh>. But, uh, it was a while. And then it was my 21st birthday Speaker 4 00:03:54 And I had to play that night. Speaker 2 00:03:56 She was playing that night. And so I ended up at the local? Speaker 4 00:04:01 No, no, it was Live Oak. Oh, Speaker 2 00:04:03 Live Oak Oak. It was at Live Oak. Yeah, yeah, yeah. And so, um, I was having a pretty good time cuz it was my 21st. And so me and JB hadn't really talked since. Nope. I Speaker 4 00:04:11 Called her out on stage. I was like, Hey bitch, you wanna hear this song <laugh>? Speaker 2 00:04:15 And I was like, yes. Cause she was gonna play. It just takes one. And I was like, I'm so excited. So I'm all the way in the patio, like right when you walk in the door and I was run sprinting to the front of the stage just to hear It just takes one. And then, um, I invited her to the church concert the next day and then we went to that and we, she Speaker 4 00:04:32 Didn't remember me inviting me. <laugh>, I didn't Speaker 2 00:04:34 Remember. I was like, Hey, Speaker 1 00:04:36 Jb, what's the 21st birthday? Like? Speaker 2 00:04:38 Yeah, no, it was awful. If Speaker 4 00:04:40 You don't go all out for 21st, you're doing something wrong. Speaker 2 00:04:42 So, yes, so JB takes me and I'm like, she's like, oh yeah, you ready for tonight? I'm like, you're like, what are we, what is she talking about? And I was like, oh, like, oh no. Speaker 4 00:04:50 When she said, huh. I was like, oh, she doesn't remember. And I, I am going regardless of she. Yeah. She's Speaker 1 00:04:55 Like, I don't, I'll show up when you get offered to go to an Eric Church show you, you gotta go. You gotta go. Oh my God. Was that the one at Nissan? Yes. Yes. How was that? Speaker 2 00:05:03 It was awesome until the very end, because we were trying to get a lift because we parked all the way to ASCAP and we got a lift down there because we didn't wanna pay for parking. Yeah. And then we couldn't get a lift back. So we walked. So we walked from Nissan and Speaker 4 00:05:16 Was it raining too that Speaker 2 00:05:17 Night? It was raining a little bit. Yeah. All the way back to ascap. It was like two and a half, three miles. Yeah. Speaker 3 00:05:22 That's, Speaker 1 00:05:23 That's a whole You guys didn't want a scooter? Oh, Speaker 2 00:05:25 We could. All the scooters on dead were Speaker 4 00:05:26 Dead. Oh. We were Speaker 2 00:05:27 Looking every time we'd grab a scooter, like it would be dead. And so I was like, okay, so we looks like we're walking. We walked all the way to the Speaker 1 00:05:34 Cars. And y'all made it there without any stops in any bars. Yeah. Speaker 2 00:05:37 Yep. That's impressive. Jamie wasn't 21 at that time. Uhuh. Speaker 1 00:05:40 Oh, okay. Speaker 2 00:05:40 Her birthday's like, we're like a week apart. Yeah. Week apart. Speaker 1 00:05:43 Wow. So you two meet at, at around, you have a birthday that's a week apart. You end up going to another church concert. And now whenever I see JB I see Hunter. Whenever I see Hunter. I see, I see JB like, y'all are always together. No, but no, but it's so cool. It's funny how things like that work out. So last night you were playing revival mm-hmm. <affirmative>, right? Yes. Yep. What happened last night? Rumple Mitz. I Speaker 2 00:06:04 Was supposed to play last night and then it got canceled. And so I went to see jb Well, she texted me, she's like, Hey, I'm walking to 10 Roof. And I was like, what? Yeah, talk about you were playing. And then I was like, Hey, no I'm not. And so we all went out and watched JB and everything and she killed it. Pretty usual. Speaker 1 00:06:18 Yeah. I saw a lot of the, I mean, I've come out and seen you before. I've seen both of y'all before. Mm-hmm. <affirmative> last night. Revival looked like it was a good time. And it looked like you It was fun last night. Yeah. It, I, you can tell by, you can tell how how big the crowds with all the Instagram mentions and stuff. And like I saw on your, on your story and stuff, like, a lot of people digging you right now. Like that's, it's badass. So that makes me feel good about <laugh>. Speaker 2 00:06:40 Jamie comes Speaker 1 00:06:41 In, you're freaking awesome. We, we we adore you and enjoy it. So you went, so you go to, you go to Tin Roof, then where'd you guys go after? Or do we not even remember? We went Speaker 2 00:06:49 To the, oh, we remember we went to the Nashville Palace. Yep. And then we went to Scoreboards. Scoreboards, yes. And then we went home. Yes. <laugh> and I ate a cauliflower pizza and it was awesome. That was me. I think you got Taco Bell. Yep. Yeah, that's what I was thinking. Speaker 1 00:07:04 That's what, see, I would've been more in the Taco Bell. Oh, I, I've tried the cauliflower pizzas. You don't like Speaker 2 00:07:08 It? Speaker 3 00:07:08 Cauliflower. Cauliflower. I Speaker 2 00:07:10 Was like, what is that? I Speaker 1 00:07:11 Don't know. Cauli, Speaker 2 00:07:12 Cauliflower pizza. Speaker 1 00:07:13 Cauliflower. Cauliflower. Cauliflower. Speaker 2 00:07:15 Cauli. Cauliflower <laugh>. Like you eat like your Colin a flower. The Speaker 1 00:07:19 One the, I I remember eating, I remember, I think the last time I had a cauliflower pizza was, um, I think Dakota's sister when I was, when I first moved down here. And Dakota's sister got like a bunch of those Kroger coupon things for the free cauliflower pizzas. Oh yeah. So we, we were typical. You're living in Nashville. We were, we were fucking broke. And we needed, we needed to get something to eat. So we went and went to Kroger and got it. And I remember being, I remember being a little, little, little hazy and eating a bunch of 'em. <laugh>. And then the next day being, trying to eat one, like not hazy. And I was, I can't do this though. <laugh>. Oh, Speaker 2 00:07:50 They're so good. I like it. Can you put some Parmesan cheese on there? Oh. Oh my God. Speaker 3 00:07:53 <laugh>. Here's the thing though. Matt does not like anything healthy. Matt will take a juice shot. Listen a juice shot. He'll take one and 30 seconds later be like, I have heartburn. Speaker 1 00:08:04 Yeah. The guys Gary. Yeah, Gary and Charlie. They like going to these, um, these juice bars when we're in random cities. And they had me, I was like, screw it, I'm gonna try one. I'm gonna try to get healthy. I'm the king of those late night pilot pizzas. And Casey's the wall. Wall. The wall. Oh yeah. Yes. We were talking about that one. Trying Wawa coffee. You did. It is the best. It is. It is very freaking good. But yeah, so I tried going all these, all I, I'm big with those late night gas station munchies and Oh, I definitely think Speaker 3 00:08:33 Of, uh, gas station pizza now. Speaker 1 00:08:34 Yeah. Gas station pizza. I really like leash <laugh>. And that's where Tyler gets his chocolate milk and his double fun rounds, his little Debbie's and stuff. He gets that. We have like our things that we got, I get a heath bar Speaker 3 00:08:45 November, December, it was the, uh, Christmas trees. Speaker 1 00:08:47 Yeah. Would that be Christmas trees? Those was the greatest. So where, what fricking city were we in Speaker 3 00:08:52 When this happened? Oh, um, someone Omaha. Speaker 1 00:08:56 Yeah. Nebraska. Yeah. We were fucking Nebraska <laugh>. And we went to this juice bar and I, I chugged this juice and they were like, Charlie was like, get this one, but it's gonna, it's gonna get you later if you know what I mean. And I'm like, okay. So I did it. I had heartburn the rest of the day. Oh my God. Speaker 3 00:09:11 But he said he had heartburn five seconds after it touched his tongue. Speaker 1 00:09:15 Yeah. Like, it's just like, are you Speaker 4 00:09:17 Allergic to like Speaker 1 00:09:18 No, I think I just see, I had a Speaker 3 00:09:20 Juice yesterday, Speaker 1 00:09:20 I think Speaker 3 00:09:21 About being Speaker 1 00:09:21 Allergic and stuff. Speaker 4 00:09:22 JB Oh, don't talk about Speaker 2 00:09:23 That. Oh my gosh. I, I can, I wanna tell the story. Can I tell the story? Speaker 3 00:09:27 Tell the story story Speaker 1 00:09:28 What Speaker 2 00:09:28 He got. So, um, <laugh>, JB um, went out and she went to dinner and then I saw her after and she, uh, had a few drinks and everything. And then she was like dying that night. And I was like, what is wrong with you? Like, what's going Speaker 4 00:09:43 On? Like, it was bad. Like, I was like, it was so bad. Sick every like 10 seconds, Speaker 2 00:09:46 Every 10 seconds. And so then, then the ne I was with her. So the next morning I was like, what is going on? Like, it's like I was Speaker 4 00:09:52 Like laying in her floor. <laugh>. Yeah. Speaker 2 00:09:53 I was like, it's like the Exorcist girl beside me. And so, uh, we were sitting there, I was like, what did you eat? And she was like, I ate like some crab and stuff. And I was like, okay. And I, she was like, but yeah, I ate, I ate stuff like that all the time. I was like, Speaker 4 00:10:05 I usually feel bad when I do it, but I still, Speaker 2 00:10:06 Yeah. She's like, I usually feel bad. And I was like, jb, maybe you're not hungover. Maybe you have a shellfish allergy. She's like, well that would make sense. Cause I got so sick at Christmas cuz we had crab legs. I was like, oh my God. Yeah. So I Speaker 4 00:10:20 Just never, yeah. Speaker 2 00:10:21 Yeah. That was pitiful. She was so bad. But they were Speaker 4 00:10:24 Like, help, like, gimme Advil for like hangover. I got an iv. She Speaker 2 00:10:27 Got an IV from Mark. Or Speaker 1 00:10:28 You went and got an iv? Well Speaker 4 00:10:30 One of our friends is like an emt. Yeah. Okay. Oh Speaker 1 00:10:32 Wow. She IV and like So you really thought you were hungover? Speaker 4 00:10:34 I, I thought I was like really, really bad hungover. But then I started thinking, I was like, I didn't drink like that much. That much. Yeah. And then, yeah, shellfish. Speaker 1 00:10:41 So no more shellfish for you? Oh, Speaker 4 00:10:43 They're still shellfish Speaker 1 00:10:44 <laugh>. Oh, you still have, okay. I just don't Speaker 2 00:10:45 Hang out with her when Speaker 4 00:10:46 It happens. Speaker 1 00:10:47 <laugh>, Speaker 4 00:10:48 She's like, that's what you're doing. Speaker 1 00:10:49 That's funny. But yeah, those juices, I can't do 'em really? I just can't do the healthy stuff. They never have one. They're supposed to be really good for you. And ginger shots are the best. Speaker 3 00:10:56 Yeah. Ginger shots are the best. Are with like, there's some places like around the south that you, that they'll do like this thing that they call the home run. And basically what it is is like a ginger shot, a lemongrass shot. Uh, and then there's two more and you take 'em. That sounds awful. Second and third base are god awful <laugh>. Speaker 1 00:11:15 That Speaker 4 00:11:15 Sounds Speaker 2 00:11:16 Awful. Speaker 3 00:11:16 Yeah. And it, it takes a lot to, to stomach those. But we do those all the time. Speaker 1 00:11:22 Yeah. I, I don't partake in the, I messed up Speaker 3 00:11:24 Yesterday Speaker 1 00:11:25 <laugh>, which I'm cutting back on the bangs and stuff. Cause I had, I went to the, um, I went to the doctor last week and they were talking about, like, they were, they were doing a bunch of like heart tests on me uhhuh. And like it's my caffeine intake. I haven't had, oh my God, I haven't had a bang now. And I'm a recovering bang addict. Oh my God. Speaker 2 00:11:40 Did they want, Speaker 4 00:11:40 What did they say was like wrong? You just, Speaker 1 00:11:41 They Oh, it was just, they wanted to do like, they did like the EKG thing. They a heartbeat too fast. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Which again, I mean I'm drinking two or three, like one bang that's 300 milligrams of caffeine. So I was drinking, I'm, I'm drinking, I'm, I'm ready to go. I'm drinking those, I'm taking in every which way that I can get nicotine. Like I'm, but Speaker 3 00:11:58 He's also drinking three of those and five Red Bull <laugh>. And Speaker 1 00:12:03 When I go out, I'm drinking those blueberry red bulls. You always notice I have a blue, blue red Bull can. Yeah. Trying to cut back on those. But yeah, me and healthy food, we, we don't mix like meat, vegetables. They're Speaker 2 00:12:13 Taking like ginger shots and you're like, oh yeah, lemme drink my Yahoo. And <laugh> <laugh>. Speaker 1 00:12:18 Yeah. They have gotten me to, to uh, try a lot of like the deep south like food traditions or however you wanna call it. So we were in Mississippi, God, we were in the middle of freaking nowhere at this random gas station we pull up. Oh my God. And I'm, I'm wearing sweatpants. I have my Yankees hat on. Like, I I just look like I don't belong there. <laugh>. Yeah. So we're in middle of nowhere Mississippi, or he Speaker 3 00:12:38 Looks like he belongs there, but in the trailer park. Speaker 1 00:12:41 <laugh>. Yeah, <laugh>. So I, we go into this gas station and I'm like, Ooh, chicken gizzards, what are those? Speaker 3 00:12:47 And we're me, Speaker 2 00:12:48 I've actually never had chicken Speaker 3 00:12:49 Gizzards. So me and like a bunch of other guys, I haven't either. I know what they are. <laugh>. I used to work love them. I used to work in a meat department at a Piggly Wiggly. Like I know what they are made on the soly wiggly. So like, yeah, I never did. But me and a couple other guys are like, dude, those things are great. It's like a southern delicacy. Like you gotta have 'em. Like if you're growing a really truly experienced in Mississippi, you gotta have em. So we let him go first in line to order. Oh God. Speaker 1 00:13:13 I order like two orders. I'm like, I gotta eat this. I gotta document this on my Snapchat. Like Speaker 3 00:13:19 I'm, we're all like, dude, do it. Do it. And then we are all like, yeah, let's get chicken strips. <laugh> on Speaker 1 00:13:24 God. Are you trying? So yeah, then we get in the van and the door's still open. We're we're sit I'm sitting in the sprinter and you could see all the, all the old ladies at the, that I, that had sold it to me that were behind the counter. They're looking out the window like to see my reaction cuz they're like, we want to know what you think. They were trying to get me to eat livers and all this stuff. And he ate Speaker 3 00:13:39 'em. And he goes like this. And they like just kind of went and both went. Speaker 2 00:13:44 So you Speaker 1 00:13:44 Like I was trying to be nice. I did not have on that the corn nuggets. The corn nugget corn nuggets. Corn nuggets, yeah. Are really good. And um, and yeah, but the chicken, I Speaker 3 00:13:52 Get 'em some, uh, sa Speaker 1 00:13:55 Sa what are the hell Speaker 3 00:13:56 Was that? You'll you'll see one day. Oh geez. I'll get you a pack Speaker 1 00:13:58 Of Yeah. We have Speaker 2 00:13:59 Is sa I don't Speaker 3 00:14:00 Know what that is. It's it's another like southern meat Speaker 1 00:14:04 South. Yeah. I've had, I had Bodan for the first time last night. Bodan is awesome. I have Boudan and we had, I've been eating a lot like the You Speaker 3 00:14:10 Weren't here whenever I Yeah, I was about to say you weren't here when Im cooked my special jamaya the other night. Were you? No, I was not here. That was a resulting in Justin that got that. Yeah. Speaker 1 00:14:17 Yeah. But specialness Speaker 2 00:14:18 For you. Speaker 1 00:14:19 <laugh>. No, I get my specialness in, but yeah, <laugh> <laugh>. But yeah. But, but anyway. So how long have each of you been in Nashville? Speaker 2 00:14:26 I've been here for three years. Yeah. I've been here for three years too. Speaker 1 00:14:28 And what brought you guys here? Were you guys here because y'all, you're so at the church concert was at, that was at Nissan. That was last year. Mm-hmm. <affirmative>. So you turned 21. You turned 20. Did you guys come here for school or did what? What's the story you guys? So I Speaker 2 00:14:41 Moved here just like from music I school. But you go to school? Yeah, I'm in school right now. Oh really? Yeah, I have one semester left at mtsu. Oh no shit. Speaker 1 00:14:48 Oh nice. Speaker 2 00:14:49 That's awesome. I'm so pumped to be done. It's, it's been a long time coming, so Yeah, I'm having a, I didn't dropout party. Speaker 1 00:14:55 Hey <laugh>. Hey, there you go. Killing it. Glad you added. I went five years and still didn't get a degree. <laugh>. Oh my God. Speaker 4 00:15:02 Go. And then I was like, yep. Not my thing. Don't even see. Speaker 1 00:15:05 Yeah. Yeah. No, that's, that's awesome though. So for you guys, was music, like, has music always been kind of the plan? Or like, when did it pop up? Like, I wanna move to Nashville, I want to do the music thing. I Speaker 4 00:15:17 Said I was gonna move to Nashville when I was like four. So Really? Speaker 1 00:15:19 Yeah, I just ran and said nice. Speaker 4 00:15:20 Oh shit. So it's like always been there even though I had no players are Independence. Speaker 1 00:15:24 <laugh> like I Speaker 4 00:15:25 Leaving packing my bags. Good side Speaker 2 00:15:28 <laugh>. Yeah. No. Yeah. I've always knew that I wanted to play music. You know, I started singing. I was like around the house, just sing what I wanted. My mom was, my mom was like, uh, yeah, you'd run in the house and be like, I want some orange juice. Speaker 4 00:15:40 That's how I was running around. I was a song about popcorn. I remember it. <laugh>, Speaker 2 00:15:44 It was a hit. Oh it Speaker 4 00:15:45 Was? Oh my God. It's Pop Pop Popp World. It's a pop <laugh>. Oh Speaker 1 00:15:48 My gosh. That's Kids Alabama Speaker 2 00:15:50 Did not know what to do. Speaker 4 00:15:51 They weren't ready for it. They weren't ready Speaker 1 00:15:52 For Pop on Hill Radio. Yeah. <laugh>. That's, everybody Speaker 4 00:15:56 Know I was like three. Yeah. Speaker 1 00:15:58 That, that's awesome. So like, when did you guys like first get into like, doing music stuff? So were you like doing the Alabama circuit down that way or? I, I, Speaker 4 00:16:07 Yeah. I just wrote mainly like when I was in high school, I didn't play out a lot. I did like worship music though. Okay. So I did like mission trips, I went play. Speaker 1 00:16:13 I've started to learn now from dating a dating a southern girl who goes to church and does all that stuff. I've been to the non-denominational church, like the worship music stuff. It's like a freaking rock concert. I'm missing out. I'm going to, I'm going to a church where I get, I do the, the bread and the wine and like it's very strict and this and that. And I've been trying to drag him for a year. <laugh>. Yeah. And now and then, and now I'm going and I'm like, now I get it. There's a freaking huge stage and there's people like rock, everybody's got their hands up <laugh>. I was like, this is awesome. Speaker 4 00:16:41 Did you grow up going to church? Speaker 1 00:16:42 I grew up going to like, go, I grew up in the Episcopal church, so it's basically the Catholic church, but minus the Pope. So it's very like strict and a lot of old people. And it was cool. Like I got confirmed and did all that. But it's very different from the non dame. Like the, the big like movement that's going. I don't know if it's a movement. It might have been here the whole time, but I just, I just, I just found it. So it was, it's been going on since like it's game changers. Yeah. It's, you know, like, but I can see why like, like how getting involved in that helps you really get involved with music. Like, you hear it so much, like so many people, particularly with country that got involved at their churches with leading worship, worship and Yeah. All that from people. Like, you look at people like Brantley Gilbert or Carrie Underwood, Florida. I love looking at him. Yeah. <laugh>. Oh, I'm sure you do. That's Speaker 4 00:17:26 That's what Brantley Speaker 2 00:17:26 Uh, oh Lord Speaker 1 00:17:27 Mercy. You rec you recognize that flag right there? Speaker 2 00:17:29 Oh yes, I do. Speaker 1 00:17:31 <laugh>. Yeah. His autographs on the other side. <laugh>. Oh, Speaker 2 00:17:34 Okay. Speaker 1 00:17:34 Yeah. Yeah. Speaker 2 00:17:36 He might not have it. <laugh>. Speaker 1 00:17:39 Yeah. Roll it up. Yeah. But like, I Speaker 4 00:17:40 Distract them and then you can like, just take it off. Speaker 1 00:17:42 Just wrap yourself in Speaker 2 00:17:43 It. Just like a blanket. Speaker 1 00:17:46 Have you seen him in concert before? Speaker 2 00:17:47 No. I wanna see him so bad. I'm hoping to go to the Knoxville show. Okay. Speaker 1 00:17:50 Oh, that's cool. And hi, I one time saw him seven times in one year when I was doing the radio thing. Oh my God. Because cuz they, they used to hook us up really well. Yeah. Good freaking dude. It's funny too, he's not, not like, it's funny, like a lot of these country singers, there's guys that, they're a lot shorter than you expect on the, especially when you work in the radio side of the, like when you're up north and you only see him one time a year when they come through. But, um, but no, he's a good dude. So you like, so you like those Georgia boys then, huh? Speaker 2 00:18:15 Yeah, I, I just, I just, I just Speaker 1 00:18:17 Like his music. You like his music? What's, what is it about his music that you like? He's tough guys. Tough Speaker 2 00:18:20 Guy stuff. Got shit. No, I, yas really like his music especially, um, uh, his new record's great too. Yeah. You know, I was pumped about that one. Hi. The record before that was really, really good too. Yeah. Yeah. I love, like, the devil don't sleep. Speaker 1 00:18:33 Yeah. Yeah. Speaker 2 00:18:34 Oh baby be crazy. I'm like, okay, Speaker 1 00:18:36 <laugh> <laugh>. Speaker 2 00:18:38 Well, I am so <laugh>. Speaker 1 00:18:41 That's awesome. Not to be. That's awesome. Oh gosh. So, so for you Hunter, coming from East Tennessee, were you doing the music thing down there? And so when you say East Tennessee, so is that down by like, Chattanooga? Is that Speaker 2 00:18:53 Chattanooga area? Yeah. Okay. But, um, no, my grandfather, he's a preacher. So yeah, I grew up in church too, singing with him. And then I was probably 15 and I was in a band and I played bass and sang. And Speaker 1 00:19:04 You played bass? Speaker 2 00:19:06 Yes. And I traveled around. It was a blues country, rock band, all the genres. And, uh, traveled around with them. And then I started, uh, branching off on my own and playing guitar. And then, um, right after that I got into worship music again with a church back home. And then, uh, some of the guys from the church, uh, like not many people played music back home when I was growing up. So it was like guys in their fifties and their three of them. And I was like, Hey, you guys wanna start a band with me, <laugh>. And so it, I called it Hunter in the old man band, <laugh>. And I was traveling around through Alabama and Florida and yeah, it was a great time when I, I think I saw you in Bamo one day. Yeah, yeah, for sure. Sold out. Sold out. I couldn't, uh, I couldn't, uh, fall, couldn't get into the venue top <laugh>. Speaker 1 00:19:49 So, so she, she hit the road for a pretty early age then. Yeah. When you got to go around and like do the, the tour, what was that like being a young kid? Um, Speaker 2 00:19:57 It was a lot of fun. My parents, uh, they are angels because they would take me everywhere and, uh, take, it's like, I guess growing up now, like looking back at my parents, like taking me into these bars full of smoke and I'm like 15 walking through and like sneaking in the back and, you know, they just have always been so supportive and picking me up from practice, dropping me off. And, you know, when I turned 16 I was just playing every, every night of the week running around. Wow. So, yeah, it's been fun though. So yeah. I love Speaker 1 00:20:28 Performing. So you got to know the grind early. Yeah. Which it is a grind. Like it is whether between writing where you're trying to write as much as you can, but at the same time not burn yourself out. Getting out and playing gigs and getting your own music out there, which both of you have music, have songs that are out there, which is really cool. Like, what's, what's that? That's gotta feel pretty freaking cool. They have songs on Spotify was like, yeah, Speaker 4 00:20:50 Yeah. Finally got a song out there. Oh yeah. Cause when I first moved here, I'd recorded these songs and you know, like you get excited, like your first, like you wrote these songs in Nashville, you're like, oh yeah, I'm gonna release these first four songs I've written in Nashville and they're awful <laugh>. And then like a year later you're like, I probably shouldn't release these <laugh>. Yeah. You're probably not a good idea. I'm Speaker 2 00:21:08 Sitting on some songs right now and I'm just trying to figure out what to do at this point. Mm-hmm. <affirmative>, I kinda let it let, like I've let it sit too long. Speaker 4 00:21:13 And the more you let it sit, the more you're like, yeah, this isn't a good idea. <laugh>. Yeah. Speaker 2 00:21:15 And I overthink everything too. You Speaker 4 00:21:17 Mm-hmm. <affirmative>. Like, even though, even if the production's great, you're still like, you change this, I can change this. Yeah. Speaker 1 00:21:21 Yeah. And then, then you're writing so much where then you have these songs in mind for like an EP or a project. Exactly. And then you go into a right and then you walk out of the right, you're like, oh shit, that might be the one. But then which one do I take out? Yeah. Speaker 2 00:21:33 Yeah. That's, that's been hard too lately. Lila, I've just been rotten so much. Speaker 4 00:21:36 I've learned whenever I like cut stuff, I have to release it soon right after, because if not, I'll sit on it Speaker 2 00:21:42 And then you'll be like, question myself. Speaker 3 00:21:44 That's why I've always been like, good with live stuff, but not the greatest in the studio because if you gimme a studio in time, I'll just sit there and just keep remixing and Yeah. But live, you get one pass and you know. Yep. Yep. Speaker 1 00:21:58 <laugh>. So for you guys who were some big like influences? Like who, who were some people that made you wanna Okay. Speaker 2 00:22:05 Um, Dolly Parton. I Speaker 1 00:22:06 See that. Oh Speaker 2 00:22:06 Yeah. Oh my god. Speaker 1 00:22:08 She is the queen. When I think when I, when I watch you play and like get a million stuff, Dolly Parton and Miranda Lambert love as Miranda another one too. Yeah. I Speaker 2 00:22:16 Like Miranda a lot, but no, Dolly just growing up, like, she was just like so big in my life because like my grandmother, she would play her music all the time. Like every Christmas we would get it. She would buy tickets to Dollywood. And so I went all the time. Like I'd eat kettle corn like for the whole entire year cuz mom, nana would come back. She just has bags and bags. She probably goes like every other weekend just wanting to go up there and everything. So yeah. And just her songwriting and the way she treats people like so huge Speaker 1 00:22:41 And like Pivotal. She's a one of a kind person. Oh yeah. There's there's only gonna be one Dolly Partons. Yeah. And, and she's the queen of one of the queens of country music. Like honestly, you wouldn't have the people that the girls that came after her, even the guys like, just the style of country music. And it wouldn't have gone to the point of where it's at today without her. And Speaker 2 00:22:59 Her sense of humor is, Speaker 1 00:23:00 Yeah. Oh, Speaker 2 00:23:01 I'm like, oh, you were just the funniest person. Speaker 1 00:23:03 <laugh>, she started that, um, that Instagram trend, right? Oh, or is it the thing that was, is it Insta? Like Tinder? Yeah, yeah, yeah. I heard that started it. I think it was, it Speaker 3 00:23:14 Was a pictures of her. Speaker 1 00:23:15 Yeah. Speaker 2 00:23:15 Okay. And then, Speaker 3 00:23:16 I dunno if it was her, but it was definitely pictures of her. I actually Yeah. Think I have that. Speaker 2 00:23:20 That's what I was thinking. I was like, what are you talking about? And I was like, I think I saw it. Yes. Yeah. Because everybody's doing that now. Yeah. Yeah. I Speaker 4 00:23:25 Thought about doing it, but then I was like, I probably, uh, Speaker 2 00:23:28 Better or not. Yeah. <laugh>, I probably shouldn't do that. Speaker 1 00:23:30 <laugh> find the drunkest picture possible. I know. Which Speaker 4 00:23:32 I would, why Speaker 1 00:23:33 Do you know which four pictures you would use? Speaker 2 00:23:35 I know what I would use for JB <laugh>. Well, we Speaker 4 00:23:38 Have these moments where we'll sit there and we'll just go through all our pictures and we're like, oh God. Speaker 2 00:23:40 Oh no. But I know it. Yeah. We've Speaker 4 00:23:42 Had some fun, fun times. We've had some Speaker 1 00:23:44 Fun times. Yeah. Now your first time in Nashville that you don't remember your first night where you were out partying. Do you remember like, moving to town and like remember when you were 21? I don't remember Speaker 2 00:23:53 Though. I can't remember. Speaker 4 00:23:54 Like, I can't tell <laugh>. Oh, like Speaker 2 00:23:55 You just Speaker 1 00:23:56 Like awful. Like your first like just No, not like an awful time. Like a fun time. It was a fun last night. Speaker 2 00:24:01 Boat's birthday boat night. Boat night. You, yeah. Boat. Not Speaker 1 00:24:04 You. What's boat Speaker 2 00:24:04 Night? So we <laugh> Speaker 4 00:24:06 Well, like I said, I hardly remember it, but we went to, it was fun. It was a fun night. I'm trying to remember where we started. We started at a birthday party I think. Speaker 2 00:24:12 Okay. Yeah. They were having a birthday party and you're like, you have to come, you need to come. I wanna have a good time. And I was like, okay. Speaker 4 00:24:18 And I was like, and then she got there and I was like, I wanna do something tonight. <laugh>. Yeah. Speaker 2 00:24:20 Oh yeah. She was like, she was like, I wanna find the tunnels in Nashville. Like, I was like, what are you talking about? I was like, JB we're gonna be covered in, I Speaker 4 00:24:27 Love what you talking about. Explore, like do random stuff all the time. I know. Speaker 2 00:24:29 But she was like itching. She was like, I gotta do something fun. I gotta do something cool. And I was like, okay, we're not gonna do the tunnels. Let's figure out something else. I was it gonna be Speaker 4 00:24:37 Fine? We can go inside. Speaker 1 00:24:37 What's the tunnels in Nashville? They're like, Speaker 4 00:24:39 There's, so there's tunnels all underneath. I'm obsessed with this. Oh. Speaker 1 00:24:42 Oh, let us know. Heard? I've never heard of this. Tyler's been here almost seven years. He's never heard of this. Yeah, I've Speaker 4 00:24:47 Saw it online. And there's like, which Speaker 1 00:24:49 That's gotta be real Speaker 4 00:24:52 <laugh>. So there's supposedly tunnels all under Broadway. Speaker 1 00:24:55 Really? Yeah. Speaker 4 00:24:56 But I think it's just sewage <laugh>. I think Speaker 2 00:24:58 It's, Speaker 1 00:24:59 It was So is that, so is that where all the homeless people? Is that where a lot of the people pop up? Like a lot of the the crazy Broadway people, Speaker 4 00:25:06 'em underground. Speaker 1 00:25:07 They they very well, they're, they're mul mold people had the look like we had a, we had a mole in the backyard like two weeks ago. Oh really? Our dog co our dog Cooper dug it up. Oh gosh. Yeah. It was wild. Speaker 4 00:25:17 But, so we ended up at this birthday party and then we, I was like, let's go do something. And then one of our friends was like, well I've got a boat. And I'm like, perfect. You're Speaker 2 00:25:24 Like, oh, this sounds fantastic. So we Speaker 4 00:25:26 Ended up in the middle of Percy Priest on a boat at like 4:00 AM Speaker 1 00:25:30 Oh, that's great. It Speaker 2 00:25:31 Was so much fun. I broke a boat. Speaker 1 00:25:32 Sketchy. Speaker 2 00:25:33 Yeah. JB totally broke a boat light because literally he said Don't jump or hit the lot. And JB goes, oh no. And she slips and she just goes directly into the lot. It falls into the water with the lot and she comes back up and his hands in his lap. I was Speaker 4 00:25:49 Like almost crying though. I felt so bad. I was like, I'm Speaker 2 00:25:51 So sorry. It was so funny. We were like jamming to Post Malone. Yeah. It was a great night. It was a weird group. We had a bunch of, yeah. Yeah. So it was fun. Fun. Boat Night was good. That was a good night. Speaker 1 00:26:01 Yeah. That was a good night. What night were you gonna talk about? Speaker 2 00:26:03 21st birthday is probably the night that I just don't recall that much. <laugh>. Except for inviting JB to the concert. She didn't remember that. Speaker 4 00:26:09 The next Speaker 2 00:26:10 <laugh> the next day I remember. But no, that was a good night. You, we like, I couldn't cuz you wanted to come out but you couldn't get in yet. Mm-hmm. <affirmative> Speaker 1 00:26:17 Week away. Yeah. What was it? So you guys have been in Nashville for a little while now? Mm-hmm. <affirmative>. What's it like being underage? It's way different in Nashville where you're trying the whole ball game when you Yeah. What you're trying to play. Like, I mean, if you gotta a fake, you gotta fake. If you had a fake you I didn't, Speaker 2 00:26:29 I never had a fake. I just like, would you know everybody? Like I, I never really, Tony, when my age Speaker 1 00:26:35 Were you one of those people see the greatest cheat code for Underages Underages out there. Listen up. Hello. Listen up. And I'm known it's Public Balance being Speaker 4 00:26:42 Friends with the Speaker 1 00:26:43 Bouncers one be fr one be friends with door guys like myself and Tyler. Yeah. And Two Tin Roof has a great little cheat code. Oh yeah. Speaker 4 00:26:51 It's called the back door. Called Speaker 1 00:26:52 The back door. That back door. It, it's always open. I thought they know about it too. Yeah. It is what it is. But if you want to go in there and network like revival and like a lot of those rounds and a lot of those shows that happen there, you can just go in through the back and mm-hmm. <affirmative>, you're there. Cuz it's hard. It's gotta be hard to network when you're 19, 18, 19, 20. Speaker 4 00:27:10 Yeah. I feel like the only way you like meet people and make, like, make Friends is if you're playing rounds. Yeah. Speaker 1 00:27:14 That's, and that's places like Belfort Taps, that's a big one, right? I'm trying to think of like under underage. Yeah. You, Speaker 4 00:27:20 You could play at Live Oak Underage. I think Live Oak. You could play the Live Oak. You can be in there underage. Yeah. Yeah. Live Oak's like one of my favorites. But that wasn't that big. Like when I was like, it wasn't like a huge, it just recently brutal to Live Oak. I know. It used to be a few other places. Speaker 1 00:27:31 It was Frisky Frog. It was wild. That was so my first night in Nashville, so I moved here October 25th, 2018. I drove down from New York. It was 14 hours. Me and my little brother split the drive we got down here. And our buddy, um, my, my good buddy Dave Hangley was playing, he was playing around with Paul Knack and Greg Pratt. And I think Royal went, I think Royal was on that round too. It was the four of us. What round and Yeah, it was, it was, it was an interesting round was that Frisky frogs. And we left in, we left early enough in the morning to where we would get down in time to see them play. So we got to the car. I don't even think we unpacked the car. We got down to the, um, down to the apartment in Spring Hill and I got in Dakota's car and we drove up there. Speaker 1 00:28:11 But Frisky frogs, that was a interesting place. Oh yeah. I ate a lot of, I ate a lot of, I used to eat frog in there. I used to eat gator like frog in there. Yeah, they frog gator. They had crawfish. They had like all anything that you could fry that could come outta the water. They had <laugh>. But it was, it was, it was interesting. But it would, it was like a big like college underage bar where like, it would just be kids with it. Like, it would just be crazy. And now y Oak is like such a chill spot. Speaker 4 00:28:37 Yeah. I had a fake when I first moved here and got it Speaker 1 00:28:39 Taken. What state? Speaker 4 00:28:40 Uh, I think it was Tennessee. Tennessee? Yeah. Speaker 1 00:28:43 What Speaker 4 00:28:43 Actually, the bad thing is it didn't look anything. Yeah. Like it looked completely fake. The background color was like a dark blue Speaker 1 00:28:48 <laugh>. Hey Tyler, I'm gonna try something real quick. Keep talking about your fake. Yeah. Speaker 4 00:28:52 The background color was like a dark blue and then a normal normal fake. It's like a light blue color. Right. And my picture looked like someone had cut me out. <laugh> it stuck me in the middle of this background. Speaker 3 00:29:02 Oh, here's the, we've Speaker 1 00:29:04 Never, we've never opened this on the podcast. Opened it up. The book of fake, take a look. The book of fakes. So we're all, so we're all bouncers. Oh Speaker 4 00:29:10 Yeah. This is awesome. There's like trophies or something. Speaker 1 00:29:13 Yeah. These are all, there's over 700 fake IDs that we have confiscated. Oh Speaker 3 00:29:17 Yeah. They all look sad. Especially whenever they're walking away after they get Speaker 1 00:29:20 Taken. Yeah. So what's, oh, I'm gonna, I'm gonna shit myself. If you have, if your fake is in here. Oh, your fake could very your Oh, it could, it could be. How Speaker 3 00:29:29 Long ago was that? Speaker 4 00:29:31 Uh, I was eight. What state? I was 18. So Speaker 3 00:29:35 There's been three years. Speaker 1 00:29:36 Dakota's been bouncing that long. Most of these are Dakotas. If we find jbs idea. What state? What state was it? Tennessee. Tennessee. All right. So that's u r s tt. Oh, all the South Carolina IDs. That's about, look at this. This girl, this girl tried twice. Once and then she came back like a month later to Dakota. Caught it again. Oh my gosh. Speaker 3 00:29:56 Let's see where Speaker 1 00:29:56 Eyes. Yeah, but like we have all these Texas IDs and stuff. This is from working on brothers between me, Ethan, and Dakota. Oh my gosh. I think Tyler's donated too. Speaker 3 00:30:05 Yeah. Donated Speaker 1 00:30:05 To you. Let's say. So here's Tennessee. I'm gonna laugh. It's Speaker 3 00:30:09 Kinda like that, right? Look, they look pretty. That dark though. Yeah. Yeah. Speaker 2 00:30:12 So my picture was like way worse. Speaker 1 00:30:14 Oh, your pic, you had a bad picture. Awful Speaker 3 00:30:16 Like that. That's got awful. Yeah, Speaker 2 00:30:18 My picture was still worse sometimes. Wow. Is there any more? Speaker 1 00:30:21 Oh, then there's one. There's, Speaker 3 00:30:23 Oh, Speaker 1 00:30:24 I'm not in the, oh, that's all the recent, ah, jbs You're not so sad. Your ID is just lost and gone forever. It's not in the Hall of Fame bar. What was your, did you have Speaker 3 00:30:30 A name? What? What bar did you get to take a nap? Speaker 2 00:30:33 I couldn't tell you what bar <laugh>? I don't remember. Oh my God. <laugh>. Were you on Broadway or? Yeah, we went to Broadway for the Broadway. Broadway Streaky. Speaker 3 00:30:42 So three years ago. This is before I have an Speaker 2 00:30:44 Awful memory. Like, I don't remember. Speaker 1 00:30:45 Oh, it's crazy. I don't remember. Yeah, three years ago. It's before Whiskey Row. It's before Jason Aldean's. That's before Kid Ride. Fgl. Maybe Fgl L was like the brand new one at that point. Maybe. So Speaker 2 00:30:54 I have an awful memory. I don't, yeah, no. I'm trying Broadway's difficult. But I have a secret. If you carry a guitar in anywhere that Speaker 3 00:31:04 You Yeah. Speaker 1 00:31:05 Yes. Very true. Yeah, let's Speaker 2 00:31:07 Put snacks in it. <laugh> pulling. I sit there pulling up chips. Hey guys. Well I had my guitar. I played down there when I was like, just turned 18. So Speaker 1 00:31:18 I play there. What, what cir what circuit were you doing when you were down there? Were you on the Tootsie Circuit? I was Speaker 2 00:31:22 On the Tootsie Circuit, uh, for a couple years now I just kind of play all around. Yeah. Now Yeah. Just a little bit of everywhere I guess. Cuz you get to know people down there and I do a lot of like, fill-in stuff. So it's, it's nice cuz like I can figure out my schedule and Yeah. Put stuff Speaker 1 00:31:37 Around. Yeah. And when and when it's busy season, which it's starting to come back right now. I know it's slow and it and it hurts you. Oh, there's no gigs. It, it hurts us too. As, as, as bouncers and stuff. When it's busy, you, you can, there's more opportunities there. And the shifts are longer and Yeah. You don't get cut at, you don't clock in at 10 o'clock and get cut at midnight. Like Yeah, it's, it, the shifts are longer cuz there's more people. And for you guys, the tips are a lot better. Speaker 2 00:31:59 Oh yeah. Yeah. It's pretty dead right now. Speaker 1 00:32:01 Yeah. But it'll be But it's coming back. Speaker 2 00:32:03 Yeah. It's, it comes back around like Speaker 1 00:32:05 Tomorrow. St. Patrick's Day. Yeah. Yeah. You have St Patrick's Day and the Spring break. Spring break and the s e c spring break has Speaker 2 00:32:11 Will be Speaker 1 00:32:12 Crazy. Yeah. And the and the s e c basketball tournament usually happen all in the same weekend. Yeah. So you've got, so you've got all Speaker 2 00:32:19 Chucky's Nice. They're nice team. They are, yeah. They tip well. Yeah. Speaker 3 00:32:23 Yeah, they do <laugh>. Speaker 1 00:32:24 Yeah. They're known to tip well who, there's a couple other, like when, when they come to town, they tip well, new England, like the Boston people. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. They're pain in the ass for us on security. But they tip, they tip the As that means that all Speaker 2 00:32:36 The other teams step it up, <laugh> keep out them 40. Speaker 1 00:32:40 What's the, what's the craziest thing you've seen on Broadway either on, on stage? We'll, we'll narrow it down for you. Oh. Because I know you, I know you play, you play at Luke's a lot. I see your name there all the time. I've seen, Speaker 2 00:32:50 I've seen a lot of weird stuff. You, you JB started playing down on Broadway too. Yeah. I'm Speaker 4 00:32:55 Trying to think. I don't Speaker 1 00:32:55 Where are your gigs at right now? Where are you playing at? I Speaker 4 00:32:58 Was playing at the Valentine, but not as, as much I think the booking. Yeah, the booking changed over. Speaker 2 00:33:01 Yeah. That's what, that's what sucks too. Like the booking changes so quickly down there. Yeah. Like the, like usually like people change and everything. Mm-hmm. <affirmative>, I'm trying Speaker 4 00:33:09 To think the craziest thing. Speaker 2 00:33:11 I don't know. I saw a huge fight though, the night. I'm trying to think. I Speaker 4 00:33:16 Don't even remember. Speaker 2 00:33:16 I they're just so, there's just so much crap. Yeah. That happens down there. It just like, because I guess like back in the day I'd be like, oh my gosh, that was so crazy. I can't believe that happened. And now I'm like, anything's possible. Speaker 1 00:33:26 You're, you're desen. You're desensitized. Yeah. Desensitized. It's Speaker 3 00:33:29 Also like one of those things like, you know, a lot of times, like I've seen Broadway people go and drink like right after their shift. Yes. And it's because you seem so much shit. Speaker 2 00:33:40 Oh Speaker 3 00:33:40 Yeah. That you just, you don't wanna remember anything after that. Mm-hmm. <affirmative>. Yeah. Like, I can't tell you the number of times that stuff's happened where I'm like, I could have lived my whole life without <laugh>, without seeing that, seeing that like, you know, between fights or people dancing or even like, people handing like your wedding ring. Like I've had that happen as a bouncer. Like there's Speaker 2 00:34:00 So many messed up. Speaker 1 00:34:00 You fi you, we would find a lot of wedding rings in. Oh my god, ski, I'll tell you that. Speaker 2 00:34:05 Oh, that gives me a story. I was playing, um, I don't forget what bar it was. And this guy comes up to me and he's like, Hey. He's like, I'm on a guy's trip right now, but I'm really missing my wife and I wanna play. I want you to play my wedding song. And I'm like, oh my gosh, this is so sweet. And I was just so excited. I was like, this is gonna be awesome. So I listened to it and um, it was like, that was at six o'clock when the shift started. And by nine o'clock he was like making out with some girl. So then I started playing before he cheats by Carry. And I looked directly at him and I was like, yes sir. Speaker 3 00:34:34 Yeah. That's another thing is like, working on Broadway is pretty much just it. Speaker 2 00:34:37 Like it gives you trust issues. Yeah, Speaker 1 00:34:39 It does. Yeah. Absolutely. No, without a doubt. Which is why we, I hang out a lot of Midtown now. Yeah. I'm not, not working on Broadway. Like where, where are some of your go-to spots for people? Red Speaker 2 00:34:49 Door. Red Door. Speaker 4 00:34:50 I, so I used, Speaker 2 00:34:51 I used to love Losers. That's where Speaker 1 00:34:52 I used to go. Yeah. What's the earliest time you've ever been in Red Door? I Speaker 4 00:34:55 Haven't gone any earlier than nine. Speaker 1 00:34:58 Have you been there for lunch? Speaker 2 00:35:00 I have. I, I went, I went a few weeks ago and I had, oh, we were supposed to have coffee and then it turned into like just having a few drinks and everything. Yeah. It was probably like 12 <laugh>. 12 o'clock. Speaker 1 00:35:10 What's 12 o'clock? Red door? Like, because I've never been in there before. 11 or 10. Speaker 2 00:35:14 It's very different. Like, it's, it's a lot of regulars I've noticed. Like when I walked in, like these people like definitely have like a sun seating. Yeah. Like <laugh>, like if you sit in someone's seat, like, I remember the time that you tried to sit somewhere in there. They're like, no, you can't sit there. That's my friend's seat. And jbs like, I was like, nobody's there. And he's like, no, he's gonna, he's gonna be here. So I was like, always. And she's like, okay, I'm just gonna walk away. I get really awkward. Speaker 4 00:35:38 I get really awkward anyway, so I'm just like, okay. Yeah. Speaker 2 00:35:40 And I'm just sitting here covering my mouth like, this is so funny. But yeah, no, it's just, it's empty. A lot of songwriters, like older, the older songwriters and stuff, so, but it's really, it's really cool. I like it. Speaker 1 00:35:51 Good, good spot to network too. Yeah. Speaker 2 00:35:53 And you can actually talk to people and it's like a chill vibe. Speaker 4 00:35:56 Yeah. You can just hang out and you see Speaker 2 00:35:57 Everybody. It's like a high school basketball game. Yeah. Or like a football game, you know what I mean? Like that's kind. Yeah. Yeah. That's what I would call red doors. Speaker 1 00:36:03 Yeah. And something we've talked about on, on the podcast before and it's kind of like when, so you guys moved to town, you said, what, what was it? Two, three years ago. Three years ago. Years ago. Yeah. So it's kind of like, Nashville's kind of like where can become like high school or college where you have like this graduating class of when you move here, you you beat other people that are new to town. Yeah. So for you guys, who are some people that you had met early on with Mu I know this might be a little different for you being doing college or were you up in town? I Speaker 2 00:36:30 I always stayed more in town than I was. I mean, yeah. I'm trying to think. Speaker 1 00:36:33 Cause Speaker 4 00:36:34 Like I said, I had the worst memory of anybody. So I'm trying to think of who you are. Like Speaker 1 00:36:38 Dory, when did, when did you first meet Garrett? Speaker 4 00:36:40 When I met, so he, do you know Tyler Bates? Yeah. He actually was living on Tyler's couch for a minute, like crashing there while he was coming into town and visiting. Yeah. And I was at Tyler's house one night just hanging out and the skywalk and he's like, Hey, I'm trying to go to sleep. And I'm like, on the couch. <laugh>. Yeah. And then I met him that night. So that was probably like a year and a half, two years ago probably. Yeah. Yeah. Damn. Speaker 1 00:37:02 So, because that's a guy that's, I'm trying to feel, so I first met you Hunter through I think jb. JB or Roy. It was JB or Royal, like a combination of both of y'all. Um, and then I think I first met you through either SJ or Garrett. Speaker 4 00:37:21 I don't probably Garrett. Garrett. Probably Speaker 1 00:37:23 Garrett. Cause I'm trying to super close. Yeah. Yeah. Which, which for you, I mean I know you got, you guys are are close in stuff for your like songwriting stuff. Is he one of the guys like in your, your circle for Oh, definitely. You write with and stuff? Definitely. I mean, Speaker 4 00:37:35 I live with him too, Speaker 1 00:37:36 So. Yeah. That helps. Right. <laugh> started a song this Speaker 4 00:37:38 Afternoon. We were just like sitting there and we were just like, all right. Speaker 1 00:37:42 You know, which is what makes Nashville so cool too, is like every, there's so many writers here we're like, yeah, just randomly you could be hanging out and then all of a sudden the song could come out of it. Mm-hmm. <affirmative>, which is cool. Mm-hmm. <affirmative>. Speaker 2 00:37:51 It's always spontaneous. Speaker 4 00:37:52 Yeah. You never know. Speaker 1 00:37:53 Yeah. Which is, it's organic, which is good. Yeah. It's a, Speaker 2 00:37:56 So, okay, cool. And like everywhere you go it's, there's a songwriter somewhere. Yeah. Like Speaker 4 00:38:00 We'll start songs like sitting outside somewhere. Speaker 2 00:38:02 Yeah. We'll be talking. We'll be, we usually, we talk on the phone a lot and so I'll be like driving and be like, hey, I'll be like, oh this is cool. And then I'll, we will talk about hooks for like however, an hour and a half to get home. Yeah. Speaker 1 00:38:12 How many songs have you two written together? Because it seems like you two have been writing together quite a bit. So Speaker 4 00:38:16 We actually like met last year, so we haven't written Speaker 2 00:38:19 Like a ton, but we, we write Speaker 4 00:38:21 Together now a lot. Now. A Speaker 2 00:38:22 Lot. Yeah. We write, we like, I feel like I have at least a write Speaker 4 00:38:26 A week. Week. Yeah. Would Speaker 2 00:38:27 You If not more some like, Speaker 4 00:38:29 I would say like 10 songs so far Speaker 2 00:38:32 Probably. Yeah. Cuz we didn't start like I knew of you for a year. Yeah. But we didn't become like really good friends until like of May last year. Yeah. Yeah. So only, only 10 songs. And we, we hung out more than we wrote together and then we started, we finally wrote together like in the fall Yeah. Of last year. And we were like, why have we not been writing together? Yeah. Because every song we get, like, we both love. So Yeah. So yeah, we've been in some really, really good songs together. Always, always good. Nice to like, cuz I feel like here like it's really, it's really, really hard to like find those people that you can like totally have your back 24 7. Like always gonna be there. And like, she's my best friend and like I know she's always gonna be there. And so it was really, really cool just to finally find that person they can write with Anne. Yeah. Trust of the friends. Yeah. Speaker 1 00:39:18 Yeah. And be, yeah. And be your ride or die. Mm-hmm. <affirmative>. Like there's, there's so many with, with the way that business is done here where it's, you meet people through hanging out mm-hmm. <affirmative> and it's like, you wonder are they just talking to me to get a connection or is it being genuine and they want to be friends? Yep. Speaker 2 00:39:32 Yeah. That's hard because that's the hardest part. We've, we talk about it all the time. Yeah. Cause I feel like I'm a puppy and I'm just saying hi to everyone and I love just to meeting people I know and must never know when it's not genuine or not. If someone's not genuine, someone takes hey, I'm like, oh, they're nice. I make, yeah, I make excuses a lot for people. I think that's one of, I'm probably my worst trait. I'm always like, yeah, everybody's a really nice person and I'm like, you're not a nice person. <laugh>. Speaker 1 00:39:52 It sucks that you have, you have to be that way because people should be, everybody's here. It should be good people. Everybody's here for the same thing. Just, just chasing the dream and, and wanting rhyme and stuff's be good person to be Speaker 2 00:40:01 Friends. It's a rise together kind of thing. Speaker 1 00:40:03 Exactly. Which I think right now there's, there's, there's a group that's kind, there's like groups that are rising and you two are definitely in a group right now. It's starting to like, I see your names out, you guys are gigging a lot. You guys are playing a lot of rounds. You guys are writing a lot. You guys like, like there are two names where like people will see JB Taylor hunt a girl on a round and they'll want to come out and watch those rounds, which is really cool. Like awesome. All the grinding and stuff feel night for them. Speaker 2 00:40:28 We had around Dog House, house the other night we're on the same round. Speaker 1 00:40:30 Yeah. Really? That was, that was you two and Garrett, or not Garrett Warren. Warren Speaker 2 00:40:34 And Mark Ort. Yes. That round, that round was so much, much fun. Cause we're all four best friends. Yeah. And dog doghouse was like super dead and then like a whole bunch of people, um, came in probably like halfway through and everything. So we were just having a good time. Just being stupid. Yeah. So it was a, it was a fun round. It was a lot of fun. It was the most fun round I've been in a while. Yeah. Every time we're in round together. I have a good time though. That's cuz we just, yeah, because we're, we act like idiots the entire time you invited us on the podcast because of a round, round. I know, I know. Oh yeah, because we played, uh, yeah, we played the In the Round podcast. Uh, the little round thing. Yeah. Yeah. We were, we were pitiful that night. Speaker 1 00:41:08 <laugh>. You guys were awesome. It was up there. It was, it was. Were the three or four you It was me, Speaker 2 00:41:13 Hunter and Royal Royal thing. Royal, yeah. Speaker 1 00:41:14 Yeah, yeah. And there were just jokes going on. Nah, nah, it was great. Like, that's, and that's what I love about like, anytime you two wanna play around, like I want too. I love, I love and I, and I want, I mean I love having you all as like, I don't wanna say a package deal, but like, you two together. Cause it just makes so much more Speaker 2 00:41:31 Fun. Dolls. Like, Speaker 1 00:41:33 But, but it's just, it makes it more, it makes it more fun for one, for 2 1 2 for one Speaker 2 00:41:38 Something. Sorry. Sorry. Speaker 1 00:41:40 It makes, it makes it more fun for the crowd too because they see that you guys are having fun up there and like they get to know more about. And if you two are co-writing a lot, like it's gotta be cool to do around with co-writers. Yeah, Speaker 2 00:41:50 Yeah, yeah. Because like I, I sing Harmony on a lot of her stuff Speaker 4 00:41:53 And then I try and usually mess it up on hers. So Speaker 2 00:41:55 <laugh>. Oh my God. But there's this one thing I do every time, but she laughs every single time. It's on. It just takes one. If you listen to like, the recording, like in the background of like the end of the bridge, it's like, baby, I hope, you know, and it's like an echo baby. I hope, you know, I do it every single time to Echo. And the first time Speaker 4 00:42:12 She did it, I was like, what was that <laugh>? Speaker 2 00:42:14 It's like, it's like in the frozen movie, when it does <laugh> thing, that's me <laugh>. I'm the voice. <laugh>. Speaker 1 00:42:21 That's great. So now for, so now for 2020, what do we have to look forward to from each of you? What are we thinking? New music. New music probably. Yeah. Speaker 4 00:42:28 Yeah. And then shows. Speaker 2 00:42:31 Yeah. A bunch of shows. Speaker 1 00:42:32 Yeah. Are we, are we out gigging like outside of Nashville right now? We got going. I just started Speaker 2 00:42:36 Trying to books some stuff. Oh, JB Pro right now. I know she is. I Speaker 4 00:42:39 Texted when I text you, I said, do you wanna go to like Ohio or something? And I Speaker 2 00:42:43 Was like, what are you talking, talking? Speaker 4 00:42:43 I was like a random city. She was like, what? What are you talking about? Was like, do you wanna go or not Speaker 2 00:42:48 A random city estate. Speaker 4 00:42:49 JB No, I was like a city in City of Ohio. Speaker 1 00:42:51 A city in state. Yeah. Speaker 2 00:42:53 I was like, I know like Ohio's estate. <laugh>? Speaker 4 00:42:57 No, Ohio City. Speaker 2 00:42:59 Ohio. Oh. City. Love that city. Speaker 1 00:43:01 See it in as confusing as Kansas City, which is in Missouri. I like half and half. Funny. Speaker 2 00:43:06 I was so confused. Speaker 4 00:43:07 No, I meant a state. I in a city. Speaker 2 00:43:09 I, I I know. I'm just, I was being mean. But no. Yeah. Lots of new music. Playing a bunch. Writing a lot. Yeah. I wanna write with like, I guess like I, we write a lot for ourselves. I'd like to write for more like other people, like artists. Speaker 1 00:43:22 Like be more of the writer's side. Look where, where it could be where maybe, maybe you, maybe you're not the, which that's gotta be a hard thing too. Yeah. At first to accept where you're writing. Yeah. Speaker 2 00:43:32 It's different. I Speaker 4 00:43:33 Love writing for other people. I Yeah. Speaker 2 00:43:35 I I love it too. Yeah. It's also different whenever like we're writing for ourselves and like trying to figure out like what could be us and what couldn't. Yeah. Speaker 4 00:43:43 Well it's nice about when we, when we write, we like know which songs look without even say it's like unspoken. It's Speaker 2 00:43:48 Unspoken Speaker 4 00:43:48 Thing. This song is like what song is who's Speaker 2 00:43:50 Who's. Yeah. Yeah. It's not, we've, I don't think we've Speaker 4 00:43:53 Never even talked about it. It's just Speaker 2 00:43:54 Like we, yeah. We play the song out and I'm like, yeah, it's jbs. And like this is Mine. I Speaker 4 00:43:58 Like That's Hunters <laugh>. Yeah. Speaker 2 00:43:59 I don't think we've ever like really ever fought either. Speaker 4 00:44:02 No. The way I see it is we'll write another song we like. Yeah. Yeah. Speaker 1 00:44:05 Oh, that's awesome. So where can people find you on social media and stuff? Speaker 4 00:44:08 Instagram, Spotify. Facebook. Speaker 2 00:44:10 Farmers only. Farmers Speaker 4 00:44:12 Only <laugh>. Mine's face Speaker 1 00:44:13 Still going. Speaker 2 00:44:15 Oh yeah. My favorite joke, uh, is, uh, I'm solely on MySpace cuz I think I'm gonna try to bring it back. <laugh> <laugh>. But yeah, no, you guys can find me on Hunter Girl music on all social media stuff. And I, Speaker 4 00:44:30 And mine's just Joy. Beth Taylor. Yeah. Speaker 1 00:44:32 Okay. Sweet. And then music on Spotify, apple Music. Yep. All the places. Good Speaker 4 00:44:36 Music. Even illegally Speaker 2 00:44:37 Probably. Yeah. <laugh> Lime Speaker 1 00:44:38 Wires master there. People, people are jumping on their lime wires. They've trying to get it, they've got their lime wire hooked up to their MySpace already. The uh, there was one that I was using in Alabama. I was like, cold Bear or something like that. Cold Bear Bear. I never heard of that. Yeah, that does sound like an Alabama streaming series. Speaker 2 00:44:54 I like, they're called Polar Bears, but Speaker 1 00:44:56 <laugh> but no <laugh>. Oh man. <laugh>. Yeah. Speaker 2 00:45:00 You you got that cold bear. Yeah. Speaker 1 00:45:03 It's not the warm one. The cold one. The Speaker 2 00:45:05 Cold one. Go have some cold bear cold bears. Speaker 1 00:45:07 So we always, so we always, um, end this and wrap, wrap things up here with, um, with our guests playing a song. Cool. Cool. Do you guys, would you guys like to play a song for us? Nos Do it. Speaker 2 00:45:16 Yes. Speaker 1 00:45:16 No, now you guys can sit right there. We'll get the guitars in a second. Okay. Which one do you guys wanna play and what's the story behind it? Speaker 2 00:45:22 Oh, I thought you were asking which guitar. No, I think I, I think I wanna play the Martin <laugh>. Speaker 4 00:45:27 Uh, are we doing like one a piece or are we just doing one? Either or. Speaker 1 00:45:31 Either or. Whatever y'all want to do. I don't care. Speaker 4 00:45:32 Us do one a piece. One Speaker 2 00:45:33 A piece Speaker 1 00:45:34 Is fine. One a piece. What are you playing? Speaker 2 00:45:35 Uh, I was gonna let you go First. Nose, ghost. I dunno yet Nose. Speaker 4 00:45:38 I dunno yet, Speaker 2 00:45:40 But, um, oh, I'll probably play better than mine, Speaker 4 00:45:46 But Yeah. Yeah. I'll probably do IC memories. Yeah. Speaker 1 00:45:49 Yeah. That's the one. So, yeah. So first with you Hunter, what's that song about that you that you're gonna be playing for us? Who'd you write it with? And, Speaker 2 00:45:57 Um, I wrote, uh, better than Mine with, uh, mark Addison Chandler and Chris Orfe. And, uh, no, we came in one day and we just didn't, it's one of those, it's one of those days like we didn't have a hook mm-hmm. <affirmative> or anything. And I've kind of love that recently just filling out the room and everything and you know, just kind of talking about like, my past relationships and just kind of being honest with myself for a moment and just kind of taking everything in. So it was, it was a, it was a rough day anyway. I was kind of emotional going into it, um, for other stuff. And so I think that kind of played out into the songwriting that day. And cause I don't really write many ballads. We're told opposites. Like that's, she writes so like a lot of ballads and I write a lot up tempo stuff. Our goal Speaker 4 00:46:36 For this year is to be the opposite. To the opposite. Speaker 2 00:46:39 Yeah. And so, uh, yeah, I know this song, it's really, really special to me. I really like this song. All right. Dope. I'm proud Speaker 4 00:46:45 Of this song. And then I wrote Icy Me Memories Can Talk with Daniel Neh and it's probably one of my favorite songs I've written. It reminds me of my grandpa. So Speaker 1 00:46:53 <laugh>. That's cool. That's awesome. Well, thank you guys for hanging out with us while you're grabbing the guitars and stuff. Boudro another episode of the Books buddy. Yeah. Another great episode. Yeah, we fucking did it. We did. We recorded two today, <laugh>. We recorded two today. Which we never, which is is rare. It's rare usually. Thanks for Speaker 2 00:47:09 Having us. I know. Oh yeah, it was fun. I had a good time. Speaker 1 00:47:12 No, y'all are awesome. Y'all are more than welcome to hang out. We have a good fucking, I think Ethan and Ethan and, uh, little Clayton. David. Have you met, have you met Ethan's kid yet? Speaker 2 00:47:19 No, Speaker 4 00:47:20 I haven't. Mm-hmm Speaker 1 00:47:21 S See he out there <laugh>. Oh, pl He plugged it up with a sock. <laugh>. Oh, that's weird. There's a sock on the door. That's a weird sock in a door. It's not even a aing. A Speaker 5 00:47:29 Door. A door Speaker 1 00:47:30 <laugh>. Well it still means the same thing but <laugh>. But anyway, always a pleasure. And um, I want to get you two on one of our rounds again soon too. Yeah, that'd be fun. Figure that out and um, and all that. But Tyler work. Could people find, uh, in the round podcast on everything? Speaker 3 00:47:45 Uh, Instagram and Facebook in the round podcast? Um, we're working on a website still. Uh, Bubba got lost. Alex. Speaker 1 00:47:54 Yeah, we had our buddy Jacob who is, I don't know if you've met Jacob. Speaker 3 00:47:57 He saved on my phone as Jacob Bubba. Cause I didn't know his last name. Oh my gosh. And he's probably one of the most redneck people I've met. Speaker 1 00:48:02 Yeah. My fir my, I was like coming Speaker 3 00:48:04 From Alabama Speaker 1 00:48:04 Was like my first weekend. Like that same, it's such a lot. That's that same day when we, when I went to Frisky Frogs to watch Dave that day that I moved down here, that night ended at a Waffle house. We were with Jacob, we were with Jacob Bubba, we were with Coda. And I had to drive, we had to pick Jacob up from the local watering hole in Spring Hill. He was already hammered. And I had, and then we had, I had to drive his truck from there to the Waffle House and it was like an 80 something Chevy. The, the, the, um, phenomenon in there didn't work. So you could tell the speed from a garment and you have to flip on this Garmin and it tells you how fast you're going. Got Garins existed. So you're using an old school GPS system. That is awesome. And, and I'm, I'd never I'm in a say that that's, Speaker 3 00:48:44 That's not as uncommon as you would think. <laugh>. Yes. Especially in South Alabama. <laugh> Speaker 1 00:48:49 Come visit. Yes. Yeah. Oh dude. Oh, I'm all about, I'm all about getting down to Alabama and stuff. So thank you guys for listening to another edition of the In the Round podcast.
